Azshara
The story
Azshara is a rugged, windswept coastline in northeastern Kalimdor cloaked in vibrant, perpetual autumn foliage. Once part of the glorious night elven capital before the Great Sundering shattered it into the sea, it remains a dangerous wilderness littered with ancient ruins, brooding naga, and isolated practitioners of magic. Both the Horde and the Alliance maintain precarious outposts along its borders, wary of the restless ghosts and ocean horrors lurking within.
Ten thousand years ago, this coast was the beating heart of the kaldorei civilization, surrounding the royal capital of Zin-Azshari. When Queen Azshara and her Highborne court drew the Burning Legion into Azeroth, the resulting War of the Ancients culminated in the catastrophic collapse of the Well of Eternity. The sea thundered inward, swallowing most of the magnificent city and leaving behind fractured cliffs, treacherous coral reefs, and waterlogged spires. The survivors renamed the ruined landscape after their fallen monarch, branding it as a cursed monument to pride and catastrophic betrayal.
