What this site keeps about you, why, who else handles it, and how to get rid of it. The add-on itself can't send anything anywhere: it runs inside your game, and you only share what you copy out of it.
Who runs it
Lore Forever is a free fan project by Mike Liu. It isn't a company, and it doesn't sell anything or show ads. Questions about your data? Ask on Discord. You can also delete your account yourself, any time, from your account page.
What we keep, and why
Downloading, playing, listening and liking need no account. If you only do those, we keep almost nothing.
- Your account, if you sign in: your Google account ID, email address and name, from Google sign-in. We use them to sign you in and to reach you about your feedback and what you contribute. A cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days.
- Your profile: the facts about your character in the journey record you paste (its name,
realm, level, the places, quests, bosses and so on it lists), plus the name and links you add. Never the record
itself, or other players' names. It stays private until you make it public. If you connect the companion app to
keep it up to date, the companion sends that same record after each
/reloador logout, and we keep when it connected and last updated your profile, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of its key. - Voice recordings: the files you upload to the voice studio. When you send a voice, also the narrator release form: the name you sign, your email, your Discord handle if you give one, and your country.
- A voice you lend: the recording you send on Lend your voice, the credit you choose, the name you sign, and the version and date of the terms you agreed to. The recording is kept private and used only to make your voice, on our own computer.
- Shared game text: the quest, gossip and book text you share from the add-on, on the Contribute page or from the companion if you turn that on, with the race, class and gender of the character who saw it (never its name) and the credit name you give, if any.
- Narration reports: which narration and voice, what's wrong and your note, when you report a recording.
- Translations: the languages you pick, the edits you make on the translation dashboard, and what you send through the translation forms.
- Feedback: what you write, the name you give and your country.
- The email list: your address, if you sign up to hear about new versions. We only use it for that.
- A daily hash of your IP address, never the address itself. It's salted with a random value that's thrown away after a day or two, so it can't be turned back into the address. It caps how many forms, likes and reports one person can send in a day, and tells apart the people sharing game text.
Your country comes from your connection; we don't ask for it. Downloads and clicks on the download and Discord links are counted per day as plain numbers, with nothing about who clicked. Your browser also remembers a few small things, like which version's news you've seen, but those stay on your device.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores everything above (its database and file storage). It also counts visits, without cookies, and runs Turnstile, a spam check, when we switch it on.
- Google handles sign-in, serves the site's fonts, and writes profile stories: Google's API writes the story from your character's facts, never your email or name.
- Discord: feedback, voice and translation submissions are posted to a private channel so we see them quickly. Never your email address or your signature.
- GitHub and CurseForge host the downloads, so they see it when you download.
How long we keep it
Your account, profile, recordings and translation edits stay until you delete them or your account. Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe. Feedback is kept to make Lore Forever better.
Delete my account removes, right away: your account (Google ID, email, name and links), your sign-in, your profile and connected apps, your voices and every recording you uploaded, the release you agreed to in the voice studio, a voice you lent (its recording, test pack and credit), the narration reports you sent while signed in, and the languages and edits on your translation dashboard.
Some things stay, and here's why:
- The record of a voice you sent (the name you signed, email, Discord, country, the release version and the date) stays as proof of the license you granted. You can still ask for your pack to be taken down, as the narrator release says.
- The record of a voice you lent (the name you signed, that you confirmed you're 18 or older, the terms version, and when you agreed and withdrew) stays as proof of what you agreed to, with no link to your account. Withdrawing a lent voice keeps the same record.
- Feedback you sent stays, without your email.
- Shared game text stays, since it's the game's own words, with the credit name you gave, if any.
- Translation submissions and bad-translation reports stay, with what you typed in them.
- Text and recordings already in a released version of Lore Forever stay in it, under CC BY-SA, with no link to your account.
- Your email list sign-up isn't tied to your account: unsubscribe to leave.
Your choices
- Delete your account, or only your profile, on your account page. Remove single recordings in the voice studio.
- Make your profile private again: untick Public on your account page.
- Stop the companion app updating your profile: Disconnect it under Connected apps on your account page, or in the companion.
- Leave the email list: unsubscribe.
- Anything else, like seeing what we hold about you or removing a voice you sent: ask on Discord.
Age
Lore Forever is made for World of Warcraft players, so it's meant for the same ages as the game. The voice studio and Lend your voice are for adults: you must be 18 or older to send recordings or lend your voice.
