Ravencrest Monument
Perched upon the windswept cliffs of southern Azshara, the Ravencrest Monument marks the shattered remnant of an ancient night elven colossus. Once a towering tribute overlooking the Great Sea, the statue has long since broken apart, leaving only towering legs and scattered stone ruins now stalked by hostile Spitelash naga.
Ruins of a Colossus
Standing high above the ocean southeast of the Ruins of Eldarath, the Ravencrest Monument was once an awe-inspiring marvel of Kaldorei stonework. Today, little remains of the majestic colossus beyond its pair of gigantic broken legs rooted to the stone plinth, with the shattered fragments of its torso and head either buried in the cliffside dirt or lost beneath the waves below. Reaching this remote coastal promontory requires trekking across the mainland bridges of Azshara, as sheer, rocky drops prevent any approach from the sea.
A Forgotten Legacy
Scholars often speculate that the monument commemorates Lord Kur'talos Ravencrest, the famed noble who rallied and led the night elven host during the War of the Ancients after the fall of Zin-Azshari. However, its close proximity to the pre-Sundering city of Eldarath and ambiguous surviving stonework leave its true origins debated. Rather than pilgrims or night elven caretakers, the surrounding cliff is currently claimed by the serpentine Spitelash naga, who defend the fallen monument with vicious territorial aggression.
