Feralas
The story
Feralas is a vast, mist-shrouded rainforest nestled between Desolace, Thousand Needles, and the Veiled Sea. Sheltered by soaring mountain walls, it preserves an ancient ecosystem dotted with overgrown Kaldorei ruins and primordial beasts. Today, the wilderness is contested territory, caught between ancient Highborne remnants, invasive Gordunni ogres, and rival outposts established by the Alliance and the Horde.
While neighboring Desolace and Thousand Needles have dried into barren badlands and desiccated canyons, Feralas remains intensely verdant. Mountain ranges seal off the canopy, sustaining a warm microclimate of deep mists, ancient trees, and towering waterfalls. Before the Great Sundering, much of Kalimdor looked like this. Over millennia, the deep jungle swallowed the monuments of the Kaldorei civilization that once ruled here, hiding forgotten temples and pavilions beneath strangling moss and thick fern brush.
