Maul (subzone)

Carved deep into the stone of the Broken Commons, the Maul once served the Highborne of Eldre'Thalas as a theater or ceremonial arena. Following the Sundering and the subsequent occupation by the Gordok ogres, the pit devolved into a raw colosseum. Like the notorious Gurubashi Arena in distant Stranglethorn Vale, entering the sands of the Maul suspends all allegiances, casting combatants into a lawless free-for-all where faction lines dissolve and survival depends purely on martial strength.

Challengers who descend into the arena must mind their approach. While daring fighters often leap directly from the high ledges of the commons, the fall carries brutal impact. A safer western archway leads through tunnels lined with slumbering Gordok hyenas, providing the only foot exit out of the fighting floor. At irregular intervals, dangerous beasts and notorious gladiators emerge into the pit, making every descent an unpredictable trial of steel and instinct.
