Dire Maul
Dire Maul is the ruined expanse of Eldre'Thalas, an ancient Highborne city hidden deep in the wilderness of Feralas. Once built to safeguard Queen Azshara's arcane secrets, its crumbling plazas and towering coliseums are now divided between occupying Gordok ogres, invading satyrs, and the withered remnants of its original elven caretakers.
Eldre'Thalas and the Great Sundering
Twelve thousand years ago, Eldre'Thalas served as a wondrous bastion for Queen Azshara's favored sorcerers, the Shen'dralar. When the Well of Eternity collapsed during the Great Sundering, Prince Tortheldrin wove a magical barrier that shielded the city from ruin. Severed from their source of magic, the surviving Highborne trapped a colossal demon named Immol'thar beneath their sanctum, siphoning its fel essence to sustain their immortality and arcane powers for millennia.
