Mathredis Firestar

Mathredis Firestar learned the craft of making arcanums—concentrated gems of arcane empowerment—from his mentor, Telmius Dreamseeker. Telmius met a grim end within the ancient ruins of Dire Maul while trying to wrest magical secrets from the Shen'dralar. While Telmius invented these magical bindings, Mathredis lacks the mastery to produce the greatest of them. Instead, he specializes in Lesser Arcanums. For Mathredis, this work is far more than an academic exercise: like all blood elves following the fall of the Sunwell, he suffers from a gnawing hunger for arcane power. Binding materials to ancient librams releases violent discharges of magical energy, which Mathredis siphons to sustain himself.

Adventurers who bring Mathredis the proper tomes—such as the Librams of Constitution, Resilience, Rumination, Tenacity, or Voracity—along with rare reagents will find him eager to trade his craft. The process binds volatile magical reagents directly to the text, concentrating their essence into an arcanum that can permanently enchant headwear or leg armor. So long as adventurers supply the components, Mathredis receives both payment and the ambient arcane sustenance he desperately craves.
