Western Plaguelands

The story

Once the fertile agricultural breadbasket of northern Lordaeron, the Western Plaguelands now choke beneath a toxic mist and legions of undead. While Kel'Thuzad's cauldrons ruined the region's farms and towns, the soil still clings tenaciously to life. The Argent Dawn, the Alliance, the Forsaken, and the Scarlet Crusade all wage desperate campaigns across its blighted fields.

Before the Third War, this land was a verdant corridor of farms stretching east from Tirisfal Glades toward Darrowmere Lake. Hearthglen governed the northern administration from Mardenholde Keep, while the sprawling town of Andorhal orchestrated the storage and export of grain across the kingdom. That crucial agricultural role made the region Kel'Thuzad's primary target. By introducing the Plague of Undeath directly into the grain shipments at Andorhal, the Cult of the Damned turned Lordaeron's sustenance into its doom.
