Andorhal

Once the thriving agricultural heart of northern Lordaeron, Andorhal became ground zero for the Kingdom's destruction during the Third War. It was here that Kel'Thuzad tainted the grain with the Plague of Undeath, unleashing horror across the region. Today, the ruined town is held firmly in the iron grip of the Scourge.

Ground Zero of the Plague

Before the Third War, Andorhal was the prosperous granary of the Eastweald, gathering grain from across Lordaeron and distributing it eastward to Hearthglen and Stratholme. Because of this vast distribution network, Kel'Thuzad and the Cult of the Damned chose Andorhal as the staging ground for their horrific plot. By tainting the grain crates with the Plague of Undeath, the cult turned the breadbasket of the kingdom into an engine of necrosis, infecting countless citizens before the Crown even understood the threat.

The Fall of the Silver Hand

Prince Arthas Menethil and Jaina Proudmoore initially confronted and slew Kel'Thuzad here, but the necromancer's death was not the end. When Arthas returned from Northrend as a champion of the Scourge, he marched back to Andorhal to reclaim Kel'Thuzad's remains. Uther the Lightbringer and the remnants of the Silver Hand made a desperate last stand in defense of King Terenas's ashes. The paladins were overwhelmed, Uther was slain by his former pupil, and the grand settlement was reduced to a blight-choked Scourge stronghold.
