Hearthglen

Tucked away in the northern hills of the Western Plaguelands, Hearthglen is a fortified settlement that remarkably escaped complete physical destruction during the fall of Lordaeron. Today, its sturdy stone walls, towers, and surrounding farmlands serve as the primary northern stronghold and training ground for the fanatical Scarlet Crusade.

A Bastion in the Blight

While neighboring Andorhal lies shattered in skeletal ruin, Hearthglen still resembles a living town of Lordaeron, complete with a lumber mill, scout towers, stables, and a functioning mine. Historically governed from Mardenholde Keep by Lord Tirion Fordring, Hearthglen was renowned for its prosperity and staunch defense during the Second War. When the Plague of Undeath swept Lordaeron during the Third War, Prince Arthas Menethil intercepted tainted grain here, purging the infected townsfolk and repelling a massive Scourge siege alongside Uther the Lightbringer. Through that desperate intervention, Hearthglen's formidable walls survived intact.

Under the Scarlet Banner

After the Silver Hand fell into disarray following the kingdom's collapse, Tirion's son, Taelan Fordring, renounced the order and joined the Scarlet Crusade, and the grief and zealotry that birthed the Crusade soon consumed the fortress. Now, Hearthglen is a fortress of religious extremism. Scarlet crusaders patrol its approaches and man its ramparts, violently executing any outsider, living or undead, who trespasses on their land. Highlord Taelan Fordring rules from Mardenholde Keep, a devout servant to the Crusade's uncompromising war against the Plaguelands.
