Scarlet Crusade
Born from the shattered remnants of the Knights of the Silver Hand, the Scarlet Crusade is a fanatical holy order obsessed with purging the undead from Lordaeron. Blighted by paranoia and radical zealotry, they view anyone outside their ranks as carriers of the plague and shoot outsiders on sight. From strongholds across Tirisfal Glades and the Plaguelands, their crimson banners wage a ruthless war against Scourge and living alike.
Rise from the Ashes
When Prince Arthas betrayed Lordaeron and murdered King Terenas Menethil II, the Order of the Silver Hand was broken. Surviving paladins and priests rallied under leaders like Alexandros Mograine, Saidan Dathrohan, and General Abbendis to reclaim their ruined homeland. Reorganizing their forces at Hearthglen and Tyr's Hand, they swore to cleanse the undead scourge with holy fire. Yet as the war dragged on, tragedy and suspicion festered within their ranks. What began as a desperate resistance soon devolved into an unyielding, xenophobic crusade.
The Great Schism
As the Crusade's dogma hardened into religious madness, moderate commanders recoiled. Lord Maxwell Tyrosus and his followers argued that retaking the north required alliances across Azeroth, seeking aid from the dwarves, gnomes, and night elves. Rejected by the zealots, Tyrosus and other disillusioned knights abandoned the order to form the Argent Dawn, remaining faithful to the pure, inclusive tenets of the Holy Light. Meanwhile, the Scarlet Crusade seized the Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal Glades as their heart of power, slaughtering travelers and refugees under the hysterical belief that all who walk the Plaguelands carry the Scourge's contagion.
