When Highlord Alexandros Mograine fell and Lordaeron collapsed into ruin, the shattered remnants of the Knights of the Silver Hand broke into bitter disagreement. Many survivors surrendered to grief and paranoia, morphing into the xenophobic Scarlet Crusade. Yet veterans like Lord Maxwell Tyrosus recognized that their former comrades had abandoned the true tenets of the Holy Light. Refusing to succumb to madness or abandon the dead kingdom, they split away to form the Argent Dawn—an order committed to defending Azeroth alongside anyone willing to fight, whether Alliance or Horde.

The Dawn's primary stronghold is Light's Hope Chapel, situated in the blighted expanse of the Eastern Plaguelands. From this consecrated bastion, the order coordinates an unending war against Kel'Thuzad's necromancers and skeletal legions. Operating forward camps at Chillwind Camp and outside the Bulwark in Tirisfal Glades, Argent officers issue enchanted commissions to adventurers, paying bounties in exchange for Scourgestones wrested from fallen undead. Despite lacking the raw manpower of the Scarlet Crusade, the Dawn holds the line through perseverance, unity, and unshakable discipline.

While Lordaeron remains their principal battleground, the Argent Dawn maintains an active watch across Kalimdor and the capitals of the world. They keep diplomatic presences in Stormwind City, Darnassus, and the goblin trade town of Everlook. Farther afield, operatives like Delgren the Purifier contest demonic cults in Darkshore and Ashenvale, while scouts in Desolace and the flooded ruins of Blackfathom Deeps investigate sinister threats involving the Shadow Council and the Twilight's Hammer cult.
