Arathi Highlands

The Arathi Highlands are a rugged plateau in southeastern Lordaeron, renowned as the ancient birthplace of the Empire of Arathor. Today, the kingdom of Stromgarde lies in ruins, leaving the craggy realm engulfed in multi-front warfare between the remnants of Stromgarde, the Horde, criminal Syndicate nobles, and invading ogres.

Millennia ago, King Thoradin united the fractured human tribes under the banner of the Arathi, constructing the majestic capital of Strom across these dry, defensible plains. It was here that humanity forged its legendary compact with the high elves during the Troll Wars, mastering the arcane arts to push back the Amani. Over time, noble bloodlines migrated north into Lordaeron and south toward Stormwind, but the imperial guard stayed behind to form the martial realm of Stromgarde. For ages, Stromgarde stood as a bastion of stalwart warriors dedicated to keeping the forest trolls at bay.
