Faldir's Cove
Faldir's Cove is a secluded natural harbor nestled along the southern coastline of the Arathi Highlands. Steeped in human history, it is traditionally remembered as the departure point from which early settlers sailed south to found Stormwind. Today, it serves as an emergency shelter for stranded Blackwater Raiders whose fleet ran afoul of local hazards.
A Gateway South and a Pirate Haven
Tucked away behind the rugged bluffs south of Stromgarde Keep, Faldir's Cove is linked to the mainland by a concealed cave tunnel. The cove honors the memory of Faldir, the ancient Arathor explorer whose expedition set sail from these very shores to cross the Great Sea and establish the southern kingdom of Stormwind. In the present day, however, its quiet waters house a very different crowd: an expedition of Blackwater Raiders from Booty Bay, led by Captains Steelgut and O'Breen, who sailed north pursuing ancient elven treasures only to end up trapped in the bay.
The Wreck of the Blackwater Fleet
The Blackwater venture turned catastrophic upon reaching the Arathi coast. Strange and unnatural tides conjured by the territorial naga dwelling on the offshore Drowned Reef shattered two of their three vessels. Only the Harbinger survived intact, limping into Faldir's Cove. With the naga prowling the waters and their navigation charts resting beneath the waves, the surviving pirates and their gnomish researchers find themselves marooned, reliant on neutral travelers to battle the aquatic horrors and recover sunken salvage.
