Stromgarde Keep
Stromgarde Keep is the battered, divided capital of the fallen human kingdom of Stromgarde in the Arathi Highlands. Once the proud cradle of human civilization known as Strom, the fortress is now partitioned between hostile Syndicate rogues, invading Boulderfist ogres, and a desperate remnant of royal defenders under Prince Galen Trollbane.
Cradle of Humanity
Long before it bore its current name, this fortress was founded nearly three millennia ago as Strom, the first capital of the unified human empire of Arathor under King Thoradin. It served as the staging ground for humanity's victory against the forest trolls and was the birthplace of human wizardry, where high elven magi tutored the first hundred human spellcasters. Over centuries, as younger sister kingdoms like Dalaran, Lordaeron, and Stormwind rose and prospered, Strom's influence waned. Renamed Stromgarde by the stubborn Trollbane dynasty who stayed behind, it remained a proud warrior bastion throughout the Second War, anchoring the Alliance of Lordaeron against the Orcish Horde.
A Shattered Bastion
Following the devastation of the Third War, Stromgarde finally buckled under mounting catastrophes and treachery. Today, the majestic stone city sits fractured into three warring sectors. The aristocratic traitors of the Syndicate occupy the grand inner keep, while brutish Boulderfist ogres have overrun the former sanctum of the mage district. Pinned in the remaining quarter, Prince Galen Trollbane and the battered Stromgarde military wage a grueling, bloody war on multiple fronts just to keep their ancestral home from vanishing into memory.
