Dalaran
Dalaran was once the shining magocratic capital of the Kirin Tor, nestled on the southern shore of Lordamere Lake. Shattered by the Scourge and the demon lord Archimonde during the Third War, its surviving magi are rebuilding the city, having removed its protective violet shield early in the reconstruction.
Fall of the Magocracy
Founded after the ancient Troll Wars by sorcerers of the Arathorian Empire, Dalaran stood for centuries as humanity's premier sanctuary for arcane study. Under the leadership of the Council of Six, the Kirin Tor amassed vast magical archives and guarded powerful artifacts within the Violet Citadel. That age of splendor ended abruptly during the Third War. The traitor prince Arthas led the Scourge through the city gates to seize the Book of Medivh, and soon after, the demon lord Archimonde crushed Dalaran's soaring spires into rubble.
Rebuilding the Magocracy
In the aftermath of the Legion's defeat, the surviving wizards of the Kirin Tor returned to their devastated homeland. Refusing to surrender their ancestral ground to the Scourge or scavengers, they erected an impassable, shimmering violet barrier over the city's heart. The shield has since been removed, though reconstruction continues. The magi continue rebuilding their fallen sanctuary, and Archmage Ansirem Runeweaver can be found in the Violet Citadel.
