Gnomeregan

Carved into the snowy foothills of Dun Morogh, Gnomeregan was once the subterranean capital and greatest technological wonder of the gnomish race. Today it lies ruined and quarantined, poisoned by radioactive fallout following a desperate defense against an underground trogg invasion. Its surviving people now dwell as refugees in nearby Ironforge, while the irradiated halls remain overrun by mutated troggs, deranged leper gnomes, and rogue mechanical sentries.

Long before its tragic fall, Gnomeregan stood as a testament to the heights of gnomish brilliance, ambition, and industry. Constructed with the assistance of the nearby dwarves of Ironforge, the sprawling mechanical complex was powered by giant grinding engines, whirring gears, and an intricate ventilation network that required fifteen technicians working around the clock just to maintain fresh air. It was a thriving center of invention, competitive craft, and politics centered on Tinkers' Court, serving as the proud capital from which gnomes contributed invaluable siege engines, flying machines, and armaments to the Alliance of Lordaeron during the Second War.
