Gelbin Mekkatorque is the High Tinker of the gnomes, currently residing in exile in Tinker Town within Ironforge. Renowned as a visionary engineer whose inventions include the mechanostrider and the Deeprun Tram, he now carries the heavy burden of Gnomeregan's fall and oversees efforts to reclaim his people's ancestral home.

Gnomish leadership is earned through intellect and merit rather than bloodlines, and Gelbin Mekkatorque's rise to High Tinker was propelled by pure inventive genius. A graduate of Gearshaft University, Mekkatorque revolutionized personal transportation with the creation of the first functioning mechanostrider. Over decades of innovation, he drafted the gyromatic micro-adjustor, automated repair bots, and partnered with the Bronzebeard dwarves to engineer their formidable siege engines. When Stormwind required a rapid transit connection to Ironforge after the Second War, King Magni Bronzebeard turned to Mekkatorque, who personally drew the schematics and oversaw construction of the subterranean Deeprun Tram.
