Essential Artificial

Before the fall of Gnomeregan, the essential artificial served as a cornerstone of day-to-day gnomish engineering. Described by tinkers as a nigh-universal component, it was integrated into countless contraptions, clockwork wonders, and heavy machinery throughout the subterranean halls. Its standardized nature made it indispensable to smiths and machinists seeking reliable, interchangeable modular parts.

When the trogg invasion and subsequent radiation disaster forced the gnomes into a desperate, panicked exodus, massive reserves of these components were abandoned where they sat. They remain stored inside heavy, steam-powered dispensers known as artificial extrapolators scattered across the deeper passages of Gnomeregan. In Tinker Town, master craftsman Klockmort Spannerspan actively recruits daring adventurers to venture back into the contaminated ruins and salvage these parts so research and invention can continue.
