Did WoW Forever launch on time?

Sources differ slightly. Blizzard Watch, writing on November 4, says the servers came online "a tiny bit later than scheduled" without giving a time. TimeSaver, a seller site compiling player reports, says launch was on schedule at 23:00 UTC. Neither is Blizzard's own statement. Endgame Tools, an independent fan site, adds that Blizzard Customer Support opened an "Info & Known Issues" forum thread at 23:21 UTC and that the list was still empty at 00:05 UTC on November 5; that is a single source.

What happened in the first minutes?

Blizzard Watch reported a login queue, "intermittent lag" and a launch that "has gone relatively smoothly", and advised players to wait it out. TimeSaver's page, updated at 23:20 UTC, lists player reports: a "Login Servers are Full" screen from about 23:02, queue positions of roughly 660 to 2,000, and all four rulesets shown as temporarily unavailable between about 23:02 and 23:05, with Roleplay PvP still reported closed around 23:17. It labels these as not confirmed by Blizzard, and so do I. For the message itself see ruleset temporarily unavailable, and for error codes error BLZ51901016. A wider view is in launch day queues and errors.

What if I am only reading this now?

The game is live. Blizzard's "Now Live" post says character creation starts with a ruleset rather than a realm and that names are unique within a region. If you cannot start the download, see can't install or download. If you are new, begin with the first hour guide.

What is not confirmed

  • The exact minute the servers opened, and how long the queue lasted. Blizzard published neither.
  • Any cause for the ruleset messages; the figures above are player reports.
  • Whether the same moment applied to every region's login servers; Blizzard says "worldwide".
  • The Blizzard post under article number 24315820 carried the time table before launch and now carries the title "Now Live!" dated November 4. I could not confirm which text Blizzard keeps.

How can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help?

The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable and recorded stories for zones, cities and dungeons; it has no internet access, and its narrators are generated voices. Willo is a separate companion app for Windows 10 or 11; her page also lists an Apple Silicon Mac download (macOS 12 or later), and her FAQ now says Windows and Mac, though CurseForge still calls her a Windows app. She is free to start with 50 answers a day, and "Willo sees your game" is Hero and up with Live game info on in both. Both are fan-made, not affiliated with Blizzard, and Willo can be wrong.
