Silverwind Refuge in WoW Forever: Location, Lore and Trainers

Silverwind Refuge is an outpost in south-central Ashenvale, just north of Mystral Lake, that Warcraft Wiki says was a Sentinel-guarded night elf settlement with trainers in the original World of Warcraft; the wiki's opening paragraph describes the later Horde-held version. As of November 5, 2026, no source I opened shows which version World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) uses.

Quick answer: Warcraft Wiki puts Silverwind Refuge at about 50, 66 in Ashenvale. In the original game it had alchemy, herbalism, skinning, hunter and pet trainers, guarded by Sentinels and water elementals. Forever's set-up is unconfirmed.

Six facts about Silverwind Refuge: it lies in central Ashenvale at about 50, 66; north of Mystral Lake; in the original game a night elf outpost guarded by Sentinels; with alchemy, herbalism, skinning, hunter and pet trainers; the wiki's lead describes a later Horde outpost; and Forever's version is unconfirmed.

  • Zone: Ashenvale, contested, levels 18 to 30 (Warcraft Wiki)

Where is Silverwind Refuge in Ashenvale?

Warcraft Wiki lists it in south-central Ashenvale at 50, 66, north of Mystral Lake and directly south of the Remains of Iris Lake and Thunder Peak. Allakhazam's original-game page places it north of Mystral Lake and southwest of Greenpaw Village. Astranaar is the zone's main Alliance stronghold, per the wiki. See the Ashenvale guide and Ashenvale explained.

What was Silverwind Refuge in the original game?

Warcraft Wiki's section on the original game says it was a night elven settlement under the Sentinels and their army of water elementals, a major outpost alongside Astranaar, with a "comparatively luxurious inn." Allakhazam calls it an Alliance outpost run by night elves and lists Danlaar Nightstride as hunter trainer, Caelyb as pet trainer, Kylanna as alchemy trainer, Cylania Rootstalker as herbalism trainer and Jayla as skinning trainer. Read the guides for hunter pets, alchemy and herbalism.

Why does the wiki call Silverwind Refuge a Horde outpost?

Warcraft Wiki's lead says it was formerly a night elven settlement and now serves as a Horde outpost, naming Chin'toka as innkeeper, Wind Tamer Shoshok as flight master and the level 10 to 30 quest We're Here to Do One Thing, Maybe Two... from Blood Guard Aldo Rockrain, which begins the Horde's Stonetalon Mountains line. That change belongs to the Cataclysm, when the wiki says a Horde mage summoned a twisted elemental to send the water elementals into a rage, and to Battle for Azeroth after it. Both are later than Forever's first year. The Horde chain it begins leads into Stonetalon Mountains.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Which version Forever uses: Warcraft Wiki's Silverwind page does not mention Forever. Our Ashenvale guide cites the wiki's Horde lead; Forever is set in the first year of WoW, which fits the original-era description better, but no source I opened confirms it.
  • Quests and levels: Allakhazam gives no quest details or level range for the outpost.
  • Fan-made coverage: I found no Silverwind Refuge page on Lore Forever's lore index on November 5; its FAQ says lore stays in the first year of WoW.

How can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help at Silverwind Refuge?

The free Lore Forever add-on is fan-made, not affiliated with Blizzard and has no internet access; entering a zone prints a clickable question in chat, and narration comes from generated voices. Willo is a separate companion app with a download for Windows 10 or 11 and one for Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 12 or later); her FAQ and the Lore Forever FAQ now say Windows and Mac, though CurseForge still calls her a Windows app. With Live game info ON in both the add-on Options and Willo Settings, she sees your game, including where you are, on Hero and up. She is free to start with 50 answers a day, can be wrong and is not official.
