WoW Forever Ashenvale Guide: Levels, Quests, Mystral Lake and Silverwind Refuge
Ashenvale is a contested zone in Kalimdor in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), listed at levels 18 to 30 by Warcraft Wiki and by mmonster's zone list. Astranaar is its capital and Alliance flight hub, Splintertree Post is a Horde flight hub, and Blackfathom Deeps lies in the zone.
Quick answer: Alliance players fly in through Astranaar, Horde players through Splintertree Post and Zoram'gar Outpost, according to Warcraft Wiki. Forever Changes counts 82 Ashenvale quests, eight of them marked New. Mystral Lake, Silverwind Refuge, Maestra's Post and Talondeep Path are original-era places that Warcraft Wiki describes; its Ashenvale and Talondeep Path pages say they remain in Classic and Forever, while the other three place pages do not mention Forever.

Key facts
- Level range: 18 to 30 (Warcraft Wiki, mmonster); Forever Changes counts 82 quests and gives 20 to 32 in its page header (its quest table also lists levels up to 60).
- Control: Warcraft Wiki lists Alliance affiliation and marks the zone contested. Astranaar is its capital.
- Dungeon: Blackfathom Deeps, listed at levels 22 to 28 by Warcraft Tavern and 20 to 35 by Warcraft Wiki (northwest corner of the zone, per Warcraft Wiki).
- New in Forever: Eight quests marked New by Forever Changes; the map is not marked as changed (Warcraft Wiki).
What levels should you quest in Ashenvale?
Warcraft Wiki and mmonster agree on 18 to 30. mmonster puts Night Elves here at levels 18 to 20, Alliance players at 25 to 30 and the Horde at 22 to 28, and it marks the 20 to 30 band as played in the beta. Forever Changes' page header gives 20 to 32. Warcraft Wiki also notes a 20-level jump at the Felwood and Azshara borders, from 25 to 45, although its own infobox range ends at 30. See the Alliance leveling zones and Horde leveling zones for the wider route.
Where are the hubs and flight paths?
Astranaar is the capital and the Alliance flight hub, and Warcraft Wiki lists flights from it to Auberdine, Stonetalon Peak, Forest Song, Talrendis Point and Emerald Sanctuary. The Horde flight hub is Splintertree Post, with flights to Orgrimmar, The Crossroads, Zoram'gar Outpost and Valormok; Zoram'gar Outpost connects on to The Crossroads, Splintertree Post, Thunder Bluff and Sun Rock Retreat. The same page puts the Alliance entrance to Warsong Gulch in Silverwing Grove in the southern forest and the Horde entrance in the Barrens. Read the Barrens guide for the Horde road in and the Darkshore guide for the Alliance road.
Where are Mystral Lake, Silverwind Refuge, Maestra's Post and Talondeep Path?
Warcraft Wiki has a page for each one.
- Mystral Lake: South-central Ashenvale, south of Silverwind Refuge and east of Talondeep Vale. The page calls it the largest lake in the forest and says its corrupted water elementals, tied to Sarilus Foulborne, are a threat to lower-level players.
- Silverwind Refuge: Just north of Mystral Lake. The page lists a Horde-controlled outpost with an inn, a mailbox, stables and a flight master (Wind Tamer Shoshok). Blood Guard Aldo Rockrain gives We're Here to Do One Thing, Maybe Two..., which starts the Horde line into the Stonetalon Mountains.
- Maestra's Post: Western Ashenvale, northwest of Astranaar. Its own page calls it an abandoned Alliance post, lists Sentinel Onaeya and links the quest A Squad of Your Own. The Ashenvale page instead lists Maestra's Post with 500 residents and Delgren the Purifier.
- Talondeep Path: A tunnel from just west of Mystral Lake to the northwest of Windshear Crag in the Stonetalon Mountains. Its page says it still exists in Classic and Forever.

The New list is Amongst the Ruins (Elite, level 27), Gleaming Crescent Necklace, Baron Aquanis (Elite), Shared Fury, Vengeful Trail, Slowing the Orc Advance, Clear the Forest! and Repelling Invaders; the last two are listed at level 60. Where does the story of Ashenvale continue?
For the history of the forest and its people, read Ashenvale explained, the night elves history and the furbolgs guide. The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable background at each stop, and the optional Willo companion answers lore questions by voice.
