WoW Forever Darkshore Guide: Auberdine, Quest Route and How to Get There

Darkshore is the Alliance-controlled coast zone of Kalimdor in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), listed at levels 9 to 25 by Warcraft Wiki with most quests between levels 10 and 20, and Auberdine is its only travel hub. The zone has no dungeon, and games.gg reports two new ship routes into Auberdine in Forever.

Quick answer: Night elves take the boat or the hippogryph from Rut'theran Village in Teldrassil; other Alliance races can use the new Stormwind Harbour ship, according to Method. Base yourself in Auberdine, work the coast in loops, and leave around level 19 or 20 for Ashenvale.

Darkshore quest route from Auberdine to Ashenvale
Route in order: arrive in Auberdine by boat or flight, levels 11 to 12 on the beach south of the port, levels 12 to 15 on the northern loop, levels 15 to 16 at the Blackwood camps and the Tower of Althalaxx, levels 17 to 19 on the southern loop, then the Kerlonian escort into Ashenvale.

Darkshore is a coast of old names: Ameth'Aran and Bashal'Aran, the Grove of the Ancients and the Tower of Althalaxx, with the port of Auberdine as the one place to travel from.

How do you get to Darkshore in WoW Forever?

Darkshore is reached by water or by air. According to games.gg's Forever guide, night elves finish Teldrassil, turn in The Bounty of Teldrassil and take Flight to Auberdine from the hippogryph master Vesprystus in Rut'theran Village. Method's travel list shows Rut'theran Village to Auberdine, a new Stormwind Harbour route, and a one-way loop from Auberdine to Menethil Harbor to Southshore and back. Warcraft Wiki lists boats from Auberdine to Rut'theran Village and Menethil Harbor, and flights to Astranaar, Stonetalon Peak, Nijel's Point, Feathermoon Stronghold, Talonbranch Glade, the Shrine of Remulos and Talrendis Point. See the Teldrassil guide for the road to the boat.

What does Auberdine offer?

Warcraft Wiki calls Auberdine the only travel hub in the zone, a night elf village with 5,500 residents listed in its infobox. Its quest table gives Wizbang Cranktoggle Buzzbox 827 (10), Gwennyth Bly'Leggonde Washed Ashore (13), Terenthis How Big a Threat? (14), Tharnariun Treetender Plagued Lands (14) and Thundris Windweaver Bashal'Aran (12).

What is the best quest order in Darkshore?

games.gg's Forever route runs from level 11 to 19. It starts on the beach south of Auberdine with Buzzbox 827, Washed Ashore, Plagued Lands and How Big a Threat?. From levels 12 to 15 it moves to a northern loop, including Bashal'Aran, The Cliffspring River and The Red Crystal. At levels 15 to 16 it goes to the Blackwood camps and the Tower of Althalaxx. From 17 to 19 it works the southern loop, with Fruit of the Sea, WANTED: Murkdeep! and The Master's Glaive, then leaves with Kerlonian on The Sleeper Has Awakened into Ashenvale. It advises skipping Gyromast's Revenge, an elite escort with a small reward, and says Blizzard has not published a Forever Darkshore quest list, so the route uses the original chains. For the next zone, read the Ashenvale guide.

What is the story of Darkshore?

Warcraft Wiki and Wowpedia agree on most of the outline. Darkshore was once a prosperous night elf region with cities such as Ameth'Aran and Bashal'Aran, and the Great Sundering destroyed much of its coast. Night elves left during the Third War for Mount Hyjal and Moonglade, and a small group returned to revive Auberdine. Warcraft Wiki says murlocs and naga are taking over the ruins and that many furbolgs under the port have turned feral. Both pages say taint from Felwood spreads down the rivers. Warcraft Wiki adds that Onu, in the Grove of the Ancients, watches the Twilight's Hammer cult at the Master's Glaive. Read the night elves history, the furbolgs guide and the Twilight's Hammer guide.

What is different about Darkshore in WoW Forever?

According to games.gg, a new Stormwind Harbour ship docks at Auberdine and a second new ship runs from Menethil Harbor through Southshore to Auberdine, linking the zone to Hillsbrad Foothills. Method marks only Stormwind Harbour as new and lists the loop without that label. games.gg adds that mist was added over the Darkshore water, a claim no second source repeats. Blackfathom Deeps remains in Ashenvale at levels 22 to 28 in Warcraft Tavern's list; see the Blackfathom Deeps guide. The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable background at each ruin, and the optional Willo companion answers lore questions by voice.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Level range: Warcraft Wiki says 9 to 25, Mobalytics 10 to 20 and games.gg covers 11 to 19. I found no Blizzard-published range.
  • Quest changes: No source lists Forever-specific Darkshore quests.
  • Mist: Only games.gg mentions the added mist.
  • Boat timing: games.gg and Method disagree on whether the Menethil loop is new. The ship routes come from beta data and may change at launch.
