What Is the Argent Dawn? Light's Hope Chapel, the Scarlet Split and the Scourge War
The Argent Dawn is a neutral order of knights, priests and paladins open to every race, formed after the Knights of the Silver Hand splintered, with Blizzard Watch saying its paladins broke from the zealotry of the Scarlet Crusade, and based at Light's Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands. Blizzard has not confirmed Argent Dawn content for World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), so this article covers the original game's order.
Quick answer: Warcraft Wiki says the Silver Hand splintered after Alexandros Mograine's death, giving rise to both the Scarlet Crusade and the Argent Dawn. The Argent Dawn recruits Alliance and Horde alike, keeps its main base at Light's Hope Chapel, and in the original game opposes the Scourge.
Light's Hope Chapel was, in Warcraft Wiki's words, originally a mere chapel of the Church of the Holy Light. It became the main base of an order that takes in both Alliance and Horde.

What is the Argent Dawn?
Warcraft Wiki describes the Argent Dawn as an organization focused on protecting Azeroth from agencies that seek to destroy it, such as the Burning Legion and the Scourge. It calls it a worldwide organization that maintains neutrality, is not political, and recruits from all races without distinction, Alliance and Horde alike. Warcraft Wiki says its members aim to fight "swiftly and mercilessly against any element of evil." Read The Scarlet Crusade for the order it rose beside.
How did the Argent Dawn split from the Scarlet Crusade?
An order forms around a refusal. Warcraft Wiki's Scourge page says the Argent Dawn formed after the Silver Hand splintered following Alexandros Mograine's death, a split that also gave rise to the Scarlet Crusade. Blizzard Watch's profile of Darion Mograine says the Argent Dawn was formed by paladins who splintered from the zealotry of the Scarlet Crusade.
What is Light's Hope Chapel?
Light's Hope Chapel is the Argent Dawn's headquarters. Warcraft Wiki's Light's Hope page says the chapel began as a small chapel of the Church of the Holy Light, grew into a fortified outpost after the Scourge War, and became the Argent Dawn's main base after Highlord Alexandros Mograine died. Blizzard Watch says its crypt holds one thousand champions who died defending Lordaeron. Warcraft Wiki places it in the central-eastern Eastern Plaguelands with a flight master and an inn. Read Western Plaguelands for the neighboring zone.
What did the Argent Dawn do in the original game?
Warcraft Wiki says the Argent Dawn had base camps across the Plaguelands and in Tirisfal Glades, and that Darion Mograine led a small Argent Dawn group against Naxxramas, where nearly all of them died. Blizzard Watch says Darion was the only one to make it out alive, carrying the corrupted Ashbringer. Warcraft Wiki adds that during the Scourge Invasion the Argent Dawn organized a worldwide counter to the undead and sent word that the Scourge's power was concentrated in Naxxramas, where Alliance heroes defeated the lich. Warcraft Tavern's WoW Classic reputation guide, which does not cover Forever, describes the faction as governed by Tirion Fordring, with hubs at Light's Hope Chapel, The Bulwark in Tirisfal Glades and Chillwind Camp in Western Plaguelands. Read The Scourge and the Plague and Tirion Fordring's story.
Where do you find the Argent Dawn in WoW Forever?
Blizzard has not said whether Light's Hope Chapel or the Eastern Plaguelands are part of WoW Forever. Warcraft Wiki says the original game's Argent Dawn kept camps in Tirisfal Glades; see also Scholomance in WoW Forever. The free Lore Forever add-on shows readable zone and quest background as you play, and the optional Willo voice companion can answer lore questions; both are fan-made. Later in the timeline, outside WoW Forever, Warcraft Wiki records the order merging with the Knights of the Silver Hand to become the Argent Crusade.
What is not confirmed yet
- Blizzard has not confirmed Argent Dawn quests, reputation or Naxxramas for WoW Forever.
- The sources frame the origin two ways: a split of the Silver Hand (Warcraft Wiki) or a break from the Scarlet Crusade's zealotry (Blizzard Watch); Warcraft Wiki's Argent Dawn page opened here gives no founding year.
- Warcraft Tavern's guide covers WoW Classic; its hubs may not match Forever.
