Who Is Anduin Wrynn? The Boy Prince of Stormwind Explained
Anduin Llane Wrynn is the son of King Varian Wrynn of Stormwind and the grandson of King Llane Wrynn, a boy who was left to rule when his father vanished on the way to a peace summit at the age of ten. In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), set in the first year of World of Warcraft, his story begins in Stormwind, and Lore Forever keeps to that boyhood and leaves his later reign unspoiled.
Quick answer: Anduin was born after the Second War, lost his mother Tiffin as a baby, and was ten when Varian disappeared. Katrana Prestor urged that the boy take the crown, and Highlord Bolvar Fordragon helped govern. Anduin's later life belongs outside WoW Forever.
Anduin was ten years old when the crown came to him. His boyhood is the story of a child asked to steady a kingdom.

Who is Anduin Wrynn?
The prince born into peace. Warcraft Wiki says Anduin was born to Varian and Tiffin Ellerian and named for Anduin Lothar and his grandfather Llane. Blizzard Watch says he was born in a time of relative peace after the Second War, and Engadget says he arrived soon after Varian returned to Stormwind and married Tiffin. For the grandfather, read Who Was King Llane Wrynn?, and for the namesake, Who Is Anduin Lothar?.
What happened to Anduin's mother?
A riot took her. Blizzard Watch and Engadget both say Tiffin was killed by a rock thrown during the riot of the Stonemasons' Guild, when Anduin was a baby. Both say Varian fell into a deep depression and that watching Anduin grow helped him recover.
Why did Varian disappear?
On the road to a summit. Blizzard Watch says that after the Third War Anduin persuaded Varian to attend a peace summit at Theramore. Engadget says Anduin was ten and Varian then vanished. Warcraft Wiki says Varian disappeared on the way to Theramore Isle. See Who Is Varian Wrynn? and Theramore Isle explained.
Who ruled Stormwind while Anduin was a boy?
A child king with advisers at his side. Warcraft Wiki says Anduin, about ten, was crowned at Katrana Prestor's urging and that Highlord Bolvar Fordragon served as Regent and Supreme Commander. Blizzard Watch says Prestor persuaded Bolvar to have Anduin crowned and that Bolvar held power until the boy was old enough. Engadget calls Prestor and Bolvar his main advisors and does not call Bolvar a regent. Read Stormwind's history.
What happens to Anduin later?
One line, labeled. Later in the timeline, outside WoW Forever, Warcraft Wiki and Blizzard Watch both say Prestor is Onyxia in disguise and that Varian was split in two. Read Onyxia explained after you have met her in the game.
Where do you meet Anduin Wrynn in WoW Forever?
Blizzard has not said, and no source Lore Forever opened places him in the game. Warcraft Wiki's Stormwind Keep page lists Anduin as the keep's current ruler but does not say where he stood in the original game. The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable zone and quest background as you travel, and the optional Willo voice companion can talk through the lore. Both are fan-made. See the Elwynn Forest guide for the roads around Stormwind.
What is not confirmed yet
- Blizzard has not published Forever's Stormwind Keep content, and whether Anduin appears is not confirmed.
- Bolvar's title: Warcraft Wiki and Blizzard Watch describe a regency, while Engadget calls him a main adviser.
- Years: Blizzard Watch gives no years for these events, so this article uses ages.
