WoW Forever Horde Leveling Zones: Levels 1–30
A common Horde route to level 30 runs from your racial starting zone through the Barrens and Silverpine Forest, then Stonetalon Mountains, Hillsbrad Foothills and Ashenvale, with dungeons along the way. Forever has no level scaling and no flying, so you choose when to move on. This guide collects the brackets from beta-era community guides, flags where they disagree and sticks to what they say.
Quick answer: Levels 1 to 10 in your starting zone. Levels 10 to 20 in the Barrens, Silverpine Forest and Stonetalon Mountains. Levels 20 to 30 in Hillsbrad Foothills, Stonetalon, Ashenvale and Thousand Needles. Run Ragefire Chasm, Wailing Caverns, the Ruins of Lordaeron and Shadowfang Keep with their quests in your log.

How to read these brackets
The beta was capped at level 30 and ended on October 23, so every bracket below comes from beta testing or announced ranges, not a launch-day run. Overgear calls its ranges "not a strict checklist". Switch zones inside a bracket when quests turn grey or send you far away.
Levels 1 to 10: your starting zone
- Orcs and Trolls: Durotar
- Tauren: Mulgore
- Undead: Tirisfal Glades
- Skyborne: Zephras Isle, levels 1 to 12, then you join the Barrens or Silverpine route, according to Overgear. See the Skyborne guide.
The first 10 levels checklist covers the opening hours.
Levels 10 to 20: the Barrens, Silverpine and Stonetalon
- The Barrens (levels 10 to 25): Games.gg splits the visit into loops: Crossroads, the Forgotten Pools and Ratchet first, then the north, then Camp Taurajo from about level 18. Crossroads is the main hub and links to Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff by flight. Keep your hearthstone there until about level 19, then move it to Camp Taurajo. The zone ends with a return at 27 to 29 for the final chains.
- Silverpine Forest (arrive 10 to 11, leave 19 to 20): You arrive on foot from Brill and work from the Sepulcher, which has the flight master and an inn. Games.gg warns that Son of Arugal is an elite, not a rare. Take Journey to Hillsbrad Foothills, a breadcrumb that requires level 19, to move on.
- Stonetalon Mountains (18 to 28): Horde players arrive at 18 from the Barrens. The Sun Rock Retreat has the flight master. Do the Windshear Crag goblin chain first, then the Charred Vale, according to Games.gg.
Levels 20 to 30: Hillsbrad, Stonetalon, Ashenvale and Thousand Needles
- Hillsbrad Foothills: Overgear lists it for 20 to 30. Tarren Mill is where the Dalaran key chain begins, which matters for the City of Dalaran guide.
- Ashenvale (19 to 32): Horde players arrive from the Barrens and split between Splintertree Post and Zoram'gar Outpost. Games.gg says to take only one copy of The Ashenvale Hunt, because the other two breadcrumbs open the same quest. Leave the eastern half for level 27 or higher.
- Thousand Needles: Games.gg has Horde enter at 25 through the Great Lift, quest the canyon to 30, then finish on the Shimmering Flats and leave at 31 to 33. Gamsgo lists it in the 20 to 30 bracket.
- Stonetalon Mountains continues until you leave around 27 to 28.
At about level 30 you join the shared route in the 30 to 60 leveling guide. The Alliance version is the Alliance leveling zones guide.
Dungeons on the Horde route
Warcraft Tavern's dungeon table gives these ranges. Other guides differ by a few levels, so check the in-game recommendation.
- Ragefire Chasm: 13 to 18, in Orgrimmar.
- Ruins of Lordaeron: 15 to 20, in Tirisfal Glades. See the Ruins of Lordaeron guide.
- Wailing Caverns: 17 to 24, in the Barrens. Games.gg says to run it once at levels 18 to 22 with all its quests in your log and a full group. Its entrance is in Lushwater Oasis, southwest of the Crossroads.
- Shadowfang Keep: 20 to 26 (Games.gg says 22 to 30), in Silverpine. Games.gg says to pick up all three keep quests before you leave the zone.
- Blackfathom Deeps: 22 to 28 in Ashenvale. See the Blackfathom Deeps guide.
- City of Dalaran: 28 to 33, near the level 30 handoff.
A level 30 patch note says dungeon quests now give 50% less bonus experience, and Games.gg says dungeon mob XP moved into dungeon quests. Run each dungeon once with its quests.
Tips for the whole route
- Take every flight path you are offered. The Frequent Flier Legacy perk lowers flight costs and speeds flights, per Blizzard's Legacy overview.
- Skip what the guides skip. Games.gg suggests skipping The Tear of the Moons and Counterattack! solo in the Barrens, and Warsong Saw Blades and Warsong Supplies in Ashenvale.
- Use inns. Log out at the Crossroads or Sepulcher inn to build rested XP. See the leveling tips guide.
- Plan your faction. The Alliance versus Horde guide compares both sides.
The free Lore Forever add-on gives background on Durotar, the Barrens and the Undercity as you level through them. It is fan-made and does not pick your route.
