WoW Forever Bags and Bank: Reagent Bag Slot, Bank Size and Bank Alts

World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) gives each character a fifth bag slot for a reagent bag and a bank larger than Classic's, which beta reports put at 48 slots plus 8 bank bag slots. Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield said in an MMORPG.com interview, quoted by Warcraft Tavern, that he believed the default bank is "either twice or four times as large" and "96 slots or something like that," so his figures were hedged.

Quick answer: Carry your backpack, your bags and a reagent bag for crafting materials; store the overflow in your bank, which has no account-wide version in the beta. Extra storage for the whole account means a second character, called a bank alt, parked in a capital city.

How bags and the bank fit together in WoW Forever
Diagram of WoW Forever storage: you carry a backpack, your regular bags and an extra fifth reagent bag slot noticed in the Forever demo; each character's bank has 48 slots and 8 bank bag slots in beta reports, against 24 and 6 in Classic; the bank is not account-wide, so a bank alt in a capital city holds extra items.

Key facts

  • Reagent bag slot: an extra fifth bag slot noticed in the Forever demo, for reagents and crafting materials (Warcraft Tavern, September 16, 2026)
  • Bank size: 48 slots, doubled from 24 in Classic, in beta reports (Conquest Capped)
  • Bank bag slots: 8, up from 6 in Classic; the first costs 10 silver (Conquest Capped)
  • Developer statement: Josh Greenfield believed the default bank is double or quadruple the old size, perhaps 96 slots, and was unsure (via Warcraft Tavern)
  • Account-wide bank: none; each character has its own bank (Conquest Capped)
  • Mounts: a dedicated mounts window means mounts need not sit in bags (Warcraft Tavern)
  • Transmog: saves item appearances without keeping the items (Warcraft Tavern)

What is the reagent bag slot?

It is a fifth place to put a bag. According to Warcraft Tavern, the team noticed a fifth bag slot in the Forever demo and describes it as a reagent bag slot, which holds spell reagents and crafting materials so they do not fill your main inventory. Conquest Capped mentions the Linen Reagent Bag, which holds only crafting materials.

The bag sizes, prices and exact contents rules for reagent bags in Forever are not documented in the sources opened. Warcraft Wiki says reagent bag slots arrived in Dragonflight, so they are a modern addition.

How big is the bank in WoW Forever?

Two numbers appear and they disagree. Greenfield, a senior game designer, said in an MMORPG.com interview quoted by Warcraft Tavern that he believed the default bank was "either twice or four times as large," adding "96 slots or something like that." Conquest Capped's beta guide counts 48 slots, double Classic's 24, and 8 bank bag slots instead of Classic's 6, with later slots costing more as in Classic.

Forty-eight fits the "twice" end of Greenfield's range. His 96 would be the "four times" end. No source I opened settles it. Conquest Capped also says Blizzard plans to add more bank space later.

Is there an account-wide bank?

Not in the beta. Conquest Capped says Forever has no account-wide bank, so the only way to add storage for the whole account is another character. That second character is a bank alt: it stays in a capital, stores items, mails goods and sells on the Auction House. It must share the ruleset and faction of the characters it serves, and a level 1 is enough for storage and auctions.

Mein-MMO (October 21, 2026) gives the same tip, suggesting early bank and trade characters kept in a capital for profession materials. Conquest Capped adds that postage costs 30 copper per attached item, mail to your own characters arrives instantly, mail to other players takes 1 hour, and unopened mail returns after 30 days.

How do I save bag space?

Several systems relieve the pack. Mounts live in their own window, transmog keeps appearances without the item, and a crafter can fill the reagent bag with materials. For what to sell, see what to keep or sell, and for bags as quest rewards, free bags from quests. See also mounts, transmog and professions.

What is not confirmed yet

  • The bank's exact size: 48 slots (Conquest Capped, beta builds through mid-October) versus Greenfield's uncertain guess of 96.
  • Reagent bag capacity and price; no source opened gives them.
  • Whether an account-wide bank is added later; Conquest Capped reports only that Blizzard plans more bank space.
  • Conquest Capped marks its guide as updated October 23, 2026 while citing October 26 changes, so its dates are inconsistent.
  • The demo-era figures may have changed since September.
