WoW Forever Transmog: Transmogrifier Locations, Unlocks and Opt-Out
Transmog in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) is an optional system that lets you change how your gear looks, and Blizzard Watch reports that turning it off makes it behave "as though it never existed." You switch it on or off by speaking to a Transmogrifier, Fyrenz Vishonar in Stormwind for the Alliance or Mon'ye in Orgrimmar for the Horde, according to Warcraft Tavern.
Quick answer: At first login you choose a Classic or Enhanced start, and Classic leaves transmog off. Find your faction's Transmogrifier to toggle it, unlock appearances by quests and loot, and save outfits in two free slots. Appearances unlock for your whole account.

Transmog is a toggle you control at a Transmogrifier, and the Classic start leaves it off for players who want the original look.
Key facts
- Alliance Transmogrifier: Fyrenz Vishonar, Stormwind (Warcraft Tavern gives near 48, 84 in the Mage District; Method names the same NPC in the Mage Quarter without coordinates)
- Horde Transmogrifier: Mon'ye, Cleft of Shadow in Orgrimmar (Warcraft Tavern and Method; only Warcraft Tavern gives coordinates, near 46, 54)
- Start choice: Classic turns transmog off, Enhanced turns it on (Blizzard Watch, Method)
- Outfit slots: two free; more cost gold (Warcraft Tavern, Method)
- Unlocks: account-wide (Warcraft Tavern, Method)
- Opt out: any time, at no cost (Warcraft Tavern)
Where are the Transmogrifier NPCs in WoW Forever?
Warcraft Tavern names two: Fyrenz Vishonar for the Alliance, near coordinates 48, 84 in Stormwind's Mage District, and Mon'ye for the Horde, near 46, 54 in the Cleft of Shadow in Orgrimmar. Method's guide, dated October 19, 2026, gives the same two and adds a third, Spellweaver Thaldris, in the Talismanic Textiles shop in Dalaran, listed as an Alliance Transmogrifier. Blizzard Watch, in a September 14 article filed under BlizzCon 2026 that follows the WoW: Forever Deep Dive panel, says only that a dedicated NPC handles the toggle. See also the city of Dalaran guide.
Is transmog on or off by default?
It depends on the style you pick at first login. Blizzard Watch says players choose Classic or Enhanced, each with preset settings: Classic uses older character models, hides map points of interest and quest objectives, and has no transmog, while Enhanced has higher-definition models, a single bag, those map features and transmog. Method agrees that the Classic feel leaves transmog off by default and says you can toggle it at any Transmogrifier. The graphics settings guide covers the visual side.
How do you unlock appearances?
Warcraft Tavern and Method agree on the main rules. Completing a quest unlocks the appearance of every reward option, including the ones you did not pick. Grey and white items unlock when looted. Bind-on-equip gear must be soulbound or sold to a vendor before it unlocks. Uncommon and rare bind-on-pickup dungeon drops unlock for every eligible looter, according to Method, Warcraft Tavern's earlier news post and Blizzard Watch. Epic appearances are personal: Method and Warcraft Tavern's news post say epic raid drops unlock only for the player the item binds to. Everything unlocked is shared across your account, and you can check it in the Collections tab or with Shift+P by default, says Warcraft Tavern. For where the loot comes from, see the dungeons guide and the raids guide.
What are the transmog rules and limits?
Warcraft Tavern's guide, its news post and Blizzard Watch all say an item can only take the look of the same armor type, such as cloth to cloth. Blizzard Watch and the news post add that while leveling, an appearance must be at or below your level, and that at level 60 the limit is gone. PvP appearances need the proper PvP rank, and neither source names the rank. Warcraft Tavern says transmog applies to your slots, so it stays when you swap in an upgrade. Blizzard Watch says the helm and cloak toggle works as in Classic. See world PvP and honor.
How do outfits and situations work?
You start with two free outfit slots and buy more with gold, say Warcraft Tavern and Method. Both guides describe "situations" that switch outfits automatically, such as by location, weather and time of day. The two guides differ on the number of slots and the price: Warcraft Tavern's table lists slots up to 51, and Method says up to 50, with slot prices running from 10 silver to a maximum of 100 gold. While you hunt for appearances, the free Lore Forever add-on shows readable zone and quest background; it is fan-made.
What is not confirmed yet
- Slot count and prices: Warcraft Tavern (slots up to 51) and Method (up to 50) disagree, and Warcraft Tavern's page is undated.
- Transmogrifier count: Warcraft Tavern lists two, Method three.
- Raid loot rule: Warcraft Tavern's guide says being in a dungeon or raid group when gear is rolled unlocks it for you, while Method, Blizzard Watch and Warcraft Tavern's own news post say epic appearances are personal to the player who binds the item.
- PvP rank: no source opened names the rank needed.
