Ruins of Lordaeron

The story

Perched directly above the subterranean Undercity, the Ruins of Lordaeron are the hollow remains of humanity's once-mighty northern kingdom. Fallen to the Scourge and Prince Arthas during the Third War, the surface streets and cracked plazas now crawl with wandering monstrosities, vengeful specters, and vile experimenters. Both the Alliance and the Horde dispatch ventures into this blighted citadel to reclaim relics of the fallen past or purge the horrors lurking above the Forsaken capital.

Capital City was once the crown jewel of the Eastern Kingdoms, the seat of King Terenas Menethil II and the beating heart of human civilization. When Prince Arthas returned from Northrend, he slew his father in the throne room and unleashed the undead upon the citizenry. Today, while the Forsaken dwell in the catacombs of the Undercity below, the surface ruins remain a forsaken twilight zone. Broken archways and weed-choked cobbles shelter feral beasts like Witherfang and deranged remnants of the past.
