Trade Quarter
The story
The Trade Quarter forms the central core of the Undercity, resting directly beneath the lifts from the Ruins of Lordaeron. It functions as the beating economic heart of the Forsaken, housing their primary bank vaults, auction market, and essential civic services. From this concentric hub, vaulted corridors branch outward into the surrounding districts.
Descending from the shattered surface of Lordaeron, travelers step off the lifts into the echoing stone expanse of the Trade Quarter. Designed around a tiered, circular layout, its central platform holds the city coffers and central bank, framed by bridges spanning noxious runoff canals. Surrounding terraces buzz with vendors, guild registries, and auctioneers bargaining amidst the eerie gloom. Even basic accommodations reflect Forsaken pragmatism: the local inn offers unlined wooden caskets rather than soft beds. From this central nexus, stone archways lead outward into the city's specialized quarters, making it the unavoidable crossroads for any business conducted within the capital.
