Light
The Light is a boundless primal cosmic force whose energy connects and suffuses all living things across creation. Manifested in the mortal realm as Holy magic, it responds to willpower, meditation, and unyielding faith to mend flesh, shield allies, and purge darkness.
A Primal Force
The Light is an omnipresent force of living energy. When brought into Azeroth, it manifests as Holy magic. Its power flows through living souls as a connective tissue, binding mortal hearts together. While mortals often personify it as a conscious protector, the Light fundamentally answers the absolute conviction of the soul calling upon it.
Instruments of Faith
To channel the Light requires intense self-abnegation, disciplined meditation, and unshakable willpower. Practitioners—most famously the priests of the Church of the Holy Light and the holy paladins—train for years to become clear, empty vessels for its radiance. Through their devotion, the Light manifests as restorative warmth to mend mortal wounds, brilliant wards to shelter the innocent, or searing fire to strike down demons and the risen undead.
Many Faces of Radiance
While humanity and the dwarves revere the Light through formal scripture, other cultures access its brilliance through different spiritual traditions. The night elves channel sacred moonlight through devotion to the goddess Elune, weaving holy magic that cleanses and protects. The tauren honor the sun deity An'she in their own spiritual traditions.
