What Type of WoW Forever Player Are You? Class by Play Style
For fun, not advice: if you charge in first, try a Warrior or Paladin; if you wait and aim, a Hunter; if you look after people, a healer such as a Priest; if you sneak, a Rogue; if you experiment, a Mage or Warlock. World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) launches on November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST with nine classes. The personality matching is ours; the roles, races and difficulty notes come from Blizzard and Warcraft Tavern.
Quick answer: Find yourself in the types below, read what the sources say about that class, then check the class guide. Warcraft Tavern's own class guide pairs each class with a wish, such as sneaking past enemies for the Rogue; our types are a lighter version of that idea.

Key facts
- Classes: nine, each with three specializations (Warcraft Tavern)
- Races: eight familiar races plus the Skyborne, counted from Blizzard's September 22 table
- Tanks: Feral Druid, Protection Paladin, Protection Warrior; Enhancement Shaman in a pinch (Warcraft Tavern)
- Healers: Restoration Druid, Holy Paladin, Discipline and Holy Priest, Restoration Shaman (Warcraft Tavern)
- Personality matching: ours, for fun
Are you the front-liner? Try a Warrior or a Paladin
You open doors with your shoulder and read the sign afterward. Warcraft Tavern suggests the Warrior for a "straightforward frontline fighter or defender": Arms and Fury deal melee damage, Protection tanks. The Paladin suits heavy armor and healing magic: Holy heals, Protection tanks, Retribution fights in melee. Every race can be a Warrior; Paladins can be Human, Dwarf or Undead (new), per Blizzard's table. See the Warrior guide.
Are you patient and calculating? Try a Hunter
You count the patrol route twice before moving once. Warcraft Tavern recommends the Hunter for exploring alone with a pet, and notes Forever lets Hunters go without one as Lone Wolves. Its Hunter leveling guide calls Beast Mastery the smoothest leveling spec, with minimal downtime. See the Hunter guide.
Do you look after people? Try a healer
You notice who is low on health before you notice the monster. Four classes heal, per Warcraft Tavern: Priest, Paladin, Druid and Shaman. It pairs the Priest with restoring allies through holy magic and the Druid with several roles on one character. Its Priest leveling guide cautions that leveling mainly as a healer is not recommended because kills are slow. See the Priest guide.
Are you sneaky? Try a Rogue
You consider the open road an insult. Warcraft Tavern suggests the Rogue for sneaking past enemies or ambushing them in melee. Its Rogue leveling guide says Rogues have always been among the hardest classes to level, and that Forever fixes that to some extent. See the Rogue guide and best race for Rogue.
Are you the mad scientist? Try a Mage or a Warlock
You want to see what happens if you press it. Warcraft Tavern pairs the Mage with arcane, frost or fire magic and lots of control, and the Warlock with demons and fire and shadow. Its Mage leveling guide says damage, crowd control and utility make a tough journey leisurely; its Warlock guide calls the class among the smoothest to level, adding that a well-played Warlock rarely needs to stop and drink. See the Mage guide and Warlock guide.
What if none of these fit?
Try the Druid or Shaman: Warcraft Tavern pairs the Druid with several roles in one character and the Shaman with buffs and utility. The classes hub lists all nine.
What is not confirmed yet
- The personality matching is ours; no source tests it.
- Class balance can change at launch.
- Blizzard's September 22 table gives each Skyborne faction five classes, while its October 28 and November 3 posts name only the Shaman (Horde-aligned) and the Mage (Alliance-aligned), so the lists above leave Skyborne out.
