Best Race for Rogue in WoW Forever: What Guides Pick
Eight of the nine races can play a Rogue in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), counting both Skyborne branches as one race; only Tauren cannot, according to Blizzard, and the guides do not agree on one best. On the Horde most name the Orc; the Alliance pick splits four ways.
Quick answer: For the Horde, GamerBlurb, Gamer Guides, GamesFuze, mein-mmo and Warcraft Tavern name Orc, and TimeSaver (updated October 29) puts Troll slightly ahead. For the Alliance the pick depends on the guide. Racials changed on October 16, 26 and 27, so check each guide's date.

A Rogue lives by the opening strike and the quiet exit, and each race brings a few gifts that sharpen both.

What changed after those guides were written?
Warcraft Tavern's reports of Blizzard's notes show three rounds. On October 16 Human Sword Specialization became Ruthless (2%) and Orc Axe Specialization became Savage. On October 26 Ruthless fell to 1%, Savage was removed and the Dwarf gained Artisan's Precision (1% hit). On October 27 Orc Blood Fury's cooldown fell from 3 to 2 minutes, Troll Berserking rose from 10 to 15 seconds, and Undead Touch of the Grave's internal cooldown fell from 25 to 15 seconds. GamerBlurb still cites Savage and the 2% Ruthless; Gamer Guides' Human line cites Sword Specialization. See racials explained.
Does the race matter much for a Rogue?
mein-mmo says racial advantages are very small and suggests choosing for looks unless you are a min-maxer. See the Rogue guide, the Rogue talent build and the race and class combinations.
What is not confirmed yet
- Whether the October 26 and 27 values are live on November 4; mein-mmo's October 28 article says the character creation screen did not yet show them.
- Touch of the Grave: Warcraft Tavern's October 16 report (calling it Touch of the Dead) gives Rogues a 20% proc chance; Gamer Guides' racials page (updated October 26) gives 5% for melee.
- Rogue performance beyond level 30, since the beta ended there; the launch cap is 60.
How can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help with this?
The free Lore Forever add-on gives readable story for the zone and quest you are in, with a Lore button on quests and a Journey page of what you have finished; its quest and NPC coverage runs to level 30. Willo, a Windows companion app, lets you ask out loud what to do next, hear the answer, and keep a notebook of to-dos for each character. She can be wrong, so check her against these sources. The add-on is optional for her; she is free to start with 50 answers a day.
