Best Gear in WoW Forever: Why There Is No Final BiS List Yet

There is no confirmed best-in-slot (BiS) list for World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) as of October 24, 2026, because the beta stopped at level 30, the level 60 raids do not open until December 9, and every list for level 60 is a projection. What Blizzard has said is that gear should improve in modest steps and that a best item from an older raid tier may stay best for a long time.

Is there a best-in-slot list for WoW Forever?

Not an official one. Kami Labs published a level 60 pre-raid BiS list computed on October 23 from the open-source WoW Forever simulator, with item sources taken from Wowhead and other sites, and labels it beta: "this tool is still being tested." Items are missing and rankings may change before launch. Overgear's guide warns that Classic BiS lists may be inaccurate because stats and loot changed in Forever. This review found no published level 60 raid loot tables from Blizzard.

How does Blizzard plan gear to work in WoW Forever?

Gear is meant to be a long road, not a ladder you kick away. Ion Hazzikostas, Blizzard's senior game director, told PC Gamer, in an interview published October 15, that the system "can last for a long, long time." Clay Stone, an associate production director, said a best item from a past raid tier may remain best in slot for a long time, and that the team aims not to make older content obsolete.

PC Gamer says designers described modest, steady progression, and principal designer Kris Zierhut said items are idiosyncratic, so you do not get exactly what you want. Hazzikostas also said players who finish the Barrow Deeps raid, due in December, will eventually have the items they want.

What gear should I use while leveling?

In the early levels, quests and dungeon quests feed the bag. Overgear lists quest rewards, dungeon boss drops and dungeon quest rewards, crafting and reputation vendors as the main sources. Crafted gear is the clearest official hint: Blizzard says it is strong while leveling, though Overgear warns that materials can cost more than the finished piece, so check the Auction House first. Since the October 8 update, several dungeon quest rewards were lowered from Rare to Uncommon, says Warcraft Tavern. On October 1, Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipes that had been random dungeon drops became available to learn. LepreStore, a commercial boosting site, says there is no universal level 30 best set and suggests upgrading your weakest slot; it also lists items from Scarlet Monastery, Gnomeregan and City of Dalaran but says the attributions come from early testing. The far halls are the raids and the long reputation roads. Overgear names Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit as opening December 9 and lists raid drops alongside dungeons, reputation vendors and PvP honor; Warcraft Tavern adds the 40-player Onyxia's Lair. Warcraft Wiki's Forever page also lists sources earlier on the road: Library quest turn-in rewards such as the Scholarly Pendant, and a Merchant's Favor that high-end recipes require.
