WoW Forever Enchanting Guide: Trainers, Disenchanting, Ranks and Camp Enchanted Lute

Enchanting in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) is a primary profession that disenchants unwanted gear into dust, essence and shards and spends them on enchantments, wands and relics, and it pairs with Tailoring. You learn it from a trainer, and Disenchant comes with the first rank.

Quick answer: Learn Enchanting from a trainer, find Disenchant in your Professions window rather than your spellbook, and pair it with Tailoring. Train Journeyman at skill 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200. The Enchanted Lute, Arcane Salvager and Arcane Forge unlock at camp at skill 20, 140 and 300.

Enchanting in WoW Forever has four ranks, with Journeyman gated at skill 50 and level 10, Expert at skill 125 and level 20, Artisan at skill 200 and level 35, plus Enchanted Lute, Arcane Salvager and Arcane Forge camp items at skill 20, 140 and 300.

Every sword that ever blazed with fire was first a plain sword, and every cloak that ever turned a blow was first a cloak. Enchanters do not forge or sew. They unmake what was never meant to last, keep the glimmer that falls out, and teach the next piece of gear to hold a spell.

Where do you learn Enchanting in WoW Forever?

Enchanters tend to keep small, bright shops near the heart of a city. WoW Professions lists Apprentice trainers Jhag in Orgrimmar and Betty Quin in Stormwind, and RankedBoost names the same two. WoW Professions adds Vance Undergloom at the Brill inn and Alanna Raveneye in Oracle Glade, Teldrassil, and says Apprentice has no level requirement.

Start with the Copper Rod and a Mote of Magic from the Enchanting Supply vendor next to a capital-city trainer. On Zephras Isle, WoW Professions places Eaysaa Brightgust in Valanaar and Nasalanna Windsinger in Shen'dar Village; see the Zephras Isle guide.

What do the Enchanting ranks require?

Three doors, each guarded by a teacher. WoW Professions says Journeyman needs Enchanting 50 and level 10, taught by Godan in Orgrimmar or Lucan Cordell in Stormwind. Expert needs 125, level 20 and 50 silver, taught by Hgarth at Sun Rock Retreat in Stonetalon Mountains or Kitta Firewind atop the Tower of Azora in Elwynn Forest. RankedBoost and Gfinity name the same Expert trainers.

Artisan needs 200 and level 35. WoW Professions says only Annora teaches it, inside Uldaman, reached through the back entrance in the Badlands, and that she appears only after you clear the mobs around her. WoW Professions says her recipes from skill 230 onward are taught nowhere else.

How does Disenchanting work in WoW Forever?

Disenchant is learned with Apprentice Enchanting, and WoW Professions says it is found in the Professions window, from where you drag it to your action bar. According to its disenchanting guide, you can disenchant everything from skill 1, and results depend on the item's required level, not its item level. Uncommon armor mostly yields dust and uncommon weapons mostly essence; rare gear always yields a shard.

Warcraft Tavern adds that enchant recipes now have an Optional Target slot, so you can pick an item without targeting it each time. WoW Professions says the first 70 skill points are cheaper than in Classic because Forever added a few new low-level recipes. Pair this with Tailoring: see the Tailoring guide.

What are the Enchanting camp items?

A good camp has one enchanter by the fire. Blizzard's deep dive recap says each profession has three camp objects, and placed objects share a one-hour cooldown. Method lists the Enchanted Lute at skill 20, the Arcane Salvager at 140 and the Arcane Forge at 300.

Blizzard Watch lists the Enchanted Lute as +28 Armor and exclusive with Mark of the Wild. WoW Professions says the Arcane Salvager improves disenchanting, with its Blueprint dropped by Shade of the Archmage in Dalaran, and that the Arcane Forge source is unknown. See the camping guide.

What is new in Enchanting compared with Classic?

RankedBoost, comparing Forever's game files with the original game's, counts 60 new recipes and 15 renamed ones, such as Minor Health becoming Inferior Stamina. Blizzard Watch lists new relics, including Idol of the Dream, which adds 2 seconds to Rip, and warns that enchants can change before launch.

What is not confirmed yet

  • WoW Professions says its Enchanting figures come from the beta, which stopped at skill 225, so Annora's range is untested.
  • The disenchant yield figures come from one guide, WoW Professions, which says results follow the item's required level; Warcraft Tavern says they follow item level.
  • WoW Professions describes the Enchanted Lute as an armor, all-stats and resistances buff, while Blizzard Watch lists only +28 Armor.
  • WoW Professions' text says only Annora teaches Artisan, but some of its trainer captions label Hgarth and Kitta Firewind as Artisan, so check in game.
  • Gfinity lists altars with different names, such as Greater Mystic Altar, which Method, Blizzard Watch and WoW Professions do not.
  • Blizzard Watch gives no effect for the Arcane Salvager or Arcane Forge.
  • Warcraft Tavern and WoW Professions differ on the Apprentice level requirement.
