WoW Forever Weapon Skills: Trainers, Cost and What Changed

In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), you learn most weapon skills from weapon masters in the six capital cities for 10 silver each, with Polearms costing 1 gold and requiring level 20. Warcraft Tavern's trainer guide gives both prices and the level 20 requirement, Blizzard Watch gives the same prices, and Warcraft Tavern says the weapon skill system itself is unchanged from the original game.

Quick answer: Find the weapon master for your weapon in your faction's capital, pay 10 silver, and the skill appears in your Skills tab. What changed is not the trainers but the bonuses: racial abilities no longer raise weapon skill, and items give less of it.

Which capital teaches which weapon skill in WoW Forever: a grid of 14 weapon types against Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and the Undercity, with Polearms marked as level 20 and available in Stormwind and the Undercity.
Where each weapon skill can be trained, by capital, according to Warcraft Tavern.

Weapon masters in the capital cities teach the rest, one fee at a time.

How do weapon skills work in WoW Forever?

Warcraft Tavern's report from the BlizzCon demo (published September 14, 2026) calls weapon skill a core mechanic in Vanilla WoW with a huge impact on how you build and gear a character, especially for physical damage dealers. It says the skill system itself is unchanged and that the Skills tooltip now shows how weapon skill affects attacks against targets of different levels. In the original game, Warcraft Wiki says skill rises through use, each attack that is not evaded has a chance to raise it, and the maximum is five times your level. No source I opened gives Forever's own skill numbers, so treat those as original-game mechanics.

What changed from the original game?

The bonuses shrank. Warcraft Tavern says no racial ability raises weapon skill in Forever: Dwarf Gun Specialization, Troll Bow and Throwing Specialization and Human Mace Specialization were removed or replaced, while Orc Axe Specialization and Human Sword Specialization now raise critical hit chance. All Things How reports the same racial changes. Warcraft Tavern says Edgemaster's Handguards fall from +7 weapon skill to +1, quoting Principal Game Designer Kriz Zierhut on weapon skill, which was "a little too easy to get and a little too strong" in Classic.

RankedBoost, citing Blizzard's September 13 panel, reports that items give less weapon skill per item, and, citing a September 30 class deep dive, that Warrior weapon specialization talents were folded into a new Weaponmaster talent. Class choices matter too: see the Warrior guide, the Rogue guide and the class quests guide. The free Lore Forever add-on is fan-made and does not change weapon skills.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Item amounts and hit cap: RankedBoost says Blizzard has not announced how much weapon skill items give, nor a hit cap.
  • Racial figures: RankedBoost lists percentages from beta files, including a Dwarf mace bonus that Warcraft Tavern's article does not list, and the page is inconsistent on that Dwarf figure itself.
  • Trainer coordinates: the two guides give different map numbers for Woo Ping, so check in game.
  • Skill rates: Warcraft Wiki's weapon skill page mixes mechanics from several expansions, so the original-game numbers are not confirmed for Forever.
  • Beta limit: the beta capped at level 30, so Polearms training and high-level skill caps are untested.
