WoW Forever Warlock Demons: Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus and Felhunter by Level
Warlocks in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) gain the Imp at level 1, the Voidwalker at level 10, the Succubus or Incubus at level 20 and the Felhunter at level 30, each through a class quest, and the Voidwalker, Succubus and Felhunter cost a Soul Shard to summon. That is according to Warcraft Tavern's Forever warlock leveling guide, which describes the level 30 beta.
Quick answer: Before level 30, Warcraft Tavern calls the choice a matter of preference: the Voidwalker keeps enemies off you, the Succubus or Incubus (level 20) kills faster but leaves you taking hits, and the Imp falls behind after level 10. The Felhunter arrives at level 30 and is ideal for PvP. Drain Soul, learned at level 10, makes the Soul Shards that summoning needs.

Few classes carry their company with them the way a warlock does. A bargain struck in a trainer's hall becomes a creature at your side, and each one costs a little more than the last.
Key facts
- Imp: level 1, class quest in the starting zone, ranged attacker (Warcraft Tavern, Method)
- Voidwalker: level 10, class quest, tank (Warcraft Tavern, Method)
- Succubus and Incubus: level 20, class quest, highest damage of any demon (Warcraft Tavern)
- Felhunter: level 30, class quest, Spell Lock and Devour Magic (Warcraft Tavern)
- Soul Shards: summoning the Voidwalker, Succubus and Felhunter needs one; Drain Soul makes them (Warcraft Tavern, Method)
- Beta cap: level 30, so later demon details are unpublished (Warcraft Tavern)
Which demons does a warlock get, and when?
Warcraft Tavern's table lists four. The Imp comes at level 1 from a class quest in the starting zone. The Voidwalker comes at level 10 from a class quest. The Succubus and Incubus, which share a level, arrive at level 20, and the Felhunter at level 30. Method's Forever warlock guide, updated October 17, 2026, agrees on the first two: the Imp from a level 1 quest and the Voidwalker from a class quest at level 10.
Warcraft Tavern says demon trainers sell grimoires instead of teaching abilities directly. For the class itself, read the Warlock guide and the Warlock talent build.
How do you get the Voidwalker?
The level 10 quest sends each race to its own trainer. Warcraft Tavern names Gakin's Summons in Goldshire for Humans, The Slaughtered Lamb in Ironforge for Gnomes, Gan'rul's Summons at Razor Hill for Orcs and Trolls, and Halgar's Summons in Brill for the Undead.
Horde warlocks can choose the Orgrimmar or Undercity version, and both Warcraft Tavern and Method warn that the Orgrimmar version leads to Skull Rock, a dangerous area; Warcraft Tavern says the Undercity one is much easier. Method says both Alliance quests, in Ironforge and Stormwind, are fairly easy. See the Orgrimmar, Ironforge and Undercity city guides, and the class quests guide.
What about the Succubus, Incubus and Felhunter?
At level 20 the choice is between the Succubus and the Incubus. Warcraft Tavern names Devourer of Souls (Stormwind, Orgrimmar and Undercity) for the Succubus and What Is Love?, Love Hurts and Hearts of the Lovers for the Incubus. It says the Horde Succubus chain is eight quests across the Barrens and Stonetalon Mountains. At level 30 the Felhunter quest is Seeking Strahad, and Warcraft Tavern's table gives no Gnome entry.
Which demon should you use?
Warcraft Tavern calls demon choice before level 30 a matter of preference. The Voidwalker keeps enemies off you while you wand and is the safest choice for multiple or hard-hitting enemies. The Succubus or Incubus kills faster but leaves you taking hits, and cannot hold threat without Demonology talents. The Felhunter is ideal for PvP, thanks to Spell Lock. Method recommends the Imp from level 1 for damage and the Voidwalker from level 10 as your tank. The Imp falls behind after level 10 but brings the Blood Pact Stamina buff to groups, says Warcraft Tavern. The free Lore Forever add-on is a fan-made companion with zone and quest background.
How do Soul Shards work?
Soul Shards are the price of a bargain. Warcraft Tavern says they are needed to summon the Voidwalker, Succubus and Felhunter, and that Drain Soul rank 1 can create a shard on each tick, so letting your demon tank an enemy while you channel Drain Soul works. Method puts Drain Soul, Create Healthstone and Summon Voidwalker at level 10, and notes that shards take inventory slots. Warcraft Tavern advises keeping a couple spare for Ritual of Summoning.
What is not confirmed yet
- Warcraft Tavern's guides describe the beta, which it says was capped at level 30; Method says its guide will expand to levels 1 to 60 after release. Demon details above level 30 and any Felguard are not covered.
- Warcraft Tavern's Demonology page mentions Sayaad in passing and covers abilities beyond the beta cap, which this guide leaves out.
- Warcraft Tavern's table does not say whether the Imp costs a Soul Shard, and its table lists no Gnome entry for the Succubus, Incubus or Felhunter.
- Quest names are the beta's and may change by launch.
