Rogue Leveling Guide in WoW Forever: Combat or Assassination
Guides split on the best way to level a Rogue in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever): Method says either of its two builds, Combat or Assassination, "will be suitable for leveling," SeeMeta names Combat, NoobToBoss names Assassination or Combat, and Gamer Guides names Subtlety or Assassination. Warcraft Tavern calls Assassination "generally not recommended as a starter build." All were written for a beta capped at level 30.
Quick answer: Build combo points with Sinister Strike, spend them with Eviscerate, keep Slice and Dice up, and save Stealth openers for strong enemies. Poisons arrive at level 20. Launch is November 4, 2026 with a level 60 cap (Blizzard); Rogue builds for levels 31 to 60 are not published.

Which spec should a Rogue level in WoW Forever?
It depends on the source. Tavern describes its Combat build as a mix of defensive and offensive play that boosts survivability, and offers two Subtlety builds as well. SeeMeta names Combat but says the Rogue cannot heal itself and eats after most fights. NoobToBoss says Rogue has burst damage but "leveling is slower because you must stay in melee range." What should a Rogue do in the first ten levels?
Tavern says you start with only Sinister Strike and Eviscerate, then quickly get Stealth, Backstab and Evasion, and choose talents at level 10. Its warning: "Trying to engage every mob with a Stealth opener can seriously slow you down." At 10 you learn Dual Wield, Slice and Dice and Sprint; Method adds a class quest at 10 for an early weapon. Tavern lists Pick Pocket at 4, Gouge at 6 and Evasion at 8, then Kick at 12, Expose Armor at 14, Ambush at 18 (Method: it needs a dagger in the main hand), Vanish at 22, Cheap Shot at 26 and Kidney Shot at 30. Tavern adds that Combo Points do not transfer between targets.
Which weapons and poisons suit a leveling Rogue?
Tavern says Assassination and Subtlety usually prefer daggers, while Combat can use any weapon through Hack and Slash, a level 30 talent. Method says to keep your highest-damage weapon in the main hand and to roll for the Cruel Barb from Edwin VanCleef if you clear Deadmines. What does a Rogue do in a first dungeon?
Tavern says its Subtlety Ambush build "doesn't fare as well in dungeons" because Ambush needs Vanish in combat until Cutthroat. Method's only dungeon note is the Cruel Barb drop, and it lists limited utility as a weakness, since Expose Armor matches Warrior's Sunder Armor. Read dungeon groups.
Which professions suit a leveling Rogue?
