WoW Forever Feralas Guide: Feathermoon Stronghold, Camp Mojache, Thalanaar and Dire Maul

Feralas is a contested jungle zone of Kalimdor in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), listed at levels 40 to 50 by Warcraft Wiki, where the Alliance holds Feathermoon Stronghold and Thalanaar, the Horde holds Camp Mojache, and the Dire Maul dungeon waits at levels 54 and up. Forever Codex, a community database that reads the beta client, says the game files show no changes to the zone's map, areas, flight paths or dungeons.

Quick answer: Alliance players fly to Feathermoon Stronghold, Horde players to Camp Mojache. Quests run from level 43 to the low 50s, the naga under Lord Shalzaru hold the western islands, and Dire Maul is a five-player dungeon in Feralas for characters at the top of the leveling range.

Feralas hubs from Feathermoon Stronghold to Dire Maul
Route in order: Alliance fly to Feathermoon Stronghold and Horde fly to Camp Mojache, Feathermoon quests run from levels 43 to 46, Thalanaar is the Alliance outpost, Camp Mojache is the Horde town, the Isle of Dread is a naga area under Lord Shalzaru, and Dire Maul is a five-player dungeon at levels 54 and above.

Feralas is green where the lands around it are not. Warcraft Wiki calls it a lush jungle, and the Gordunni ogres hold the old elven ruins of Dire Maul. The Alliance holds Feathermoon Stronghold and Thalanaar, and the Horde has Camp Mojache.

Key facts

  • Level range: 40 to 50 (Warcraft Wiki, Mobalytics); 41 to 49 in beta-client area data, with a group finder range of 38 to 54 (Forever Codex); 42 to 48 on an unofficial route (mmonster).

  • Map: Not marked as substantively changed in Forever (Warcraft Wiki map comparison).

How do you reach Feralas?

Feralas is a flight-path zone. Warcraft Wiki lists Feathermoon Stronghold flights to Auberdine, Nijel's Point, Thalanaar and Cenarion Hold, and Camp Mojache flights to Thunder Bluff, the Crossroads, Freewind Post, Shadowprey Village, Gadgetzan and Cenarion Hold. The zone borders Thousand Needles and Desolace. Prepare in the Darkshore guide, the Barrens guide and the 30 to 60 leveling guide.

What are the Alliance quest hubs?

Feathermoon Stronghold is the Alliance settlement with the most quests in Forever Codex's count. Warcraft Wiki's quest table lists Shandris Feathermoon with The Ruins of Solarsal (43), Against the Hatecrest (43) and Rise of the Silithid (46); Latronicus Moonspear with Against Lord Shalzaru (45); Ginro Hearthkindle with The Woodpaw Gnolls (44); and Pratt McGrubben with The Mark of Quality (46). Thalanaar, the Alliance outpost, has Falfindel Waywarder, who seeks aid against the Death's Head cult and gives The Crone of the Kraul (34), a quest that takes place in Razorfen Kraul. Forever Codex counts 29 quests at Feathermoon for levels 43 to 51 and 4 quests at the Grimtotem Compound, where Kindal Moonweaver needs help freeing Sprite Darters.

What are the Horde quest hubs?

Camp Mojache is the Horde town. Warcraft Wiki says Witch Doctor Uzer'i there sends adventurers to find mystical muisek, and its Felwood quest table shows Talo Thornhoof giving the Horde quest The Strength of Corruption (52), listed under Camp Mojache and Feralas. Forever Codex counts 38 quests from 9 givers at Camp Mojache for levels 43 to 52. The Feralas quest table I could read covered the Alliance side only, so the rest of the Horde list is not covered here.

What is Dire Maul?

Warcraft Wiki describes Dire Maul as a five-player dungeon in Feralas, ancient ruins now populated by ogres. Blizzard's WoW Classic Dire Maul notice says Horde players fly to Camp Mojache and Alliance players to Feathermoon Stronghold, then run to the High Wilderness road, and that the outdoor arena, The Maul, lies in the Broken Commons. That notice is about WoW Classic, not Forever. For Forever, Warcraft Tavern's dungeon list confirms Dire Maul East at 58 to 60 and West and North at 60, while Warcraft Wiki gives 54 to 61 and about 1.5 hours per wing. Read the dungeons overview and the level 60 progression guide.

What is the story of Feralas?

Wowpedia says the jungle was once part of night elf territory and holds ancient ruins, including the city now called Dire Maul, which plant life has overgrown. Warcraft Wiki and Wowpedia both say the Gordunni ogres control ancient elven ruins, including Dire Maul, and that the Horde is concerned about their expansion. Warcraft Wiki adds that General Shandris Feathermoon works to cleanse the naga led by Lord Shalzaru, and lists the Isle of Dread and Shalzaru's Lair. Read the night elves history for the people who built here. The free Lore Forever add-on adds readable background at each camp, and the optional Willo companion answers lore questions by voice.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Level range: Sources give 40 to 50, 41 to 49 and 42 to 48; I found no Blizzard-published range.
  • Dire Maul: Sources disagree on its levels and wings. Check the in-game dungeon finder.
  • Quests: Forever Codex says its quest hubs come from a database of the original 1.12 game and may differ in Forever.
