WoW Forever Experience Guide: XP to Level 60, Quest Colors and Rested XP
World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) needs 4,084,700 experience points to take a character from level 1 to the level 60 cap, according to Warcraft Tavern's Forever experience guide. The road steepens as it climbs: level 1 needs 400 XP to reach level 2, and the step from level 59 to 60 needs 209,800.
Quick answer: Adding Warcraft Tavern's per-level figures, a character reaches level 30 (where the beta stopped) at 499,000 XP, about 12 percent of the full road. Gray monsters pay none, and Rested XP doubles kill XP only.

Key facts
- Total XP, level 1 to 60: 4,084,700 (Warcraft Tavern)
- First step and last step: 400 XP to reach level 2; 209,800 XP to go from 59 to 60 (Warcraft Tavern)
- XP to reach level 30: 499,000, the sum of the guide's per-level figures, about 12 percent of the total
- Rested XP: 5% of the current level's XP per 8 hours rested, capped at 150% (Warcraft Tavern)
- Beta level cap: 30, announced October 1, 2026 (Warcraft Tavern)
How much XP do you need to reach level 60 in WoW Forever?
Warcraft Tavern's guide lists the XP to the next level for every level from 1 to 59: 7,600 at level 10, 23,200 at level 20, 47,400 at level 30, 90,700 at level 40 and 147,500 at level 50. The 59 figures add up to the stated 4,084,700.
Because each step is bigger than the last, the first half of the levels covers far less than half of the XP: by the guide's numbers level 40 arrives at 1,154,400 XP (28 percent of the total) and level 50 at 2,306,100 (56 percent).
How do quest colors and kill XP work?
Warcraft Tavern's quest colors run gray (5 or more levels below you), green (3 to 4 below), yellow (up to 2 above or below), orange (3 to 4 above) and red (5 or more above). A quest more than 5 levels below you has its reward reduced by 10 to 20 percent for each additional level, and repeatable quests usually give no experience.
Kill XP is based on the creature's level relative to yours and its type. Gray monsters give none, and only the first player or group to tag a creature gets the credit. Discovering a new area gives a small XP bonus and fills in your map, according to the same guide.
How do group and dungeon XP work?
Warcraft Tavern says larger groups reduce the XP each member earns from kills, that quest turn-in XP is not affected by grouping, and that Forever adds larger penalties for much higher-level members. Having a level 60 kill everything for you is "not going to be a very effective way" to earn XP, in the guide's words. Timesaver.gg describes the Classic rule, which the beta restored on October 8, as: if one party member is far above an enemy's level, no one in the group earns XP from that kill.
Timesaver.gg (updated October 27, 2026) records how beta tuning moved: on October 1 dungeon quests began giving 50 percent less extra XP beyond normal quest values, and on October 8 dungeon creature XP rose by about 20 percent. For where each dungeon sits on the road, see the dungeons guide.
How does Rested XP work, and what else boosts XP?
According to Warcraft Tavern, Rested XP doubles kill XP while it lasts and does not boost quest turn-ins or exploration. It builds in inns, capital cities and on the Cozy Sleeping Bag, even while you are logged out, at 5 percent of your current level's XP requirement per 8 hours, up to 150 percent (30 bubbles), about 10 days.
Other bonuses from the same guide: Well Fed food adds about 5 percent kill XP for roughly 15 minutes, the Camp Tent gives a one-hour rested buff, and the Cozy Sleeping Bag grants up to 3 percent bonus XP from gains (1 percent per stack). The Well Rested legacy talent adds 4 percent per rank to Rested XP gain and cap. See rested XP and inns, camping and the Legacy system.
What is not confirmed yet
- Warcraft Tavern's experience guide shows no publication date, so its figures may predate later changes.
- The beta ended with a level 30 cap, so XP for levels 31 to 60 was never tested by players; the per-level table covers them on paper only.
- Mein-MMO (October 5, 2026) reported that beta dungeons gave noticeably less XP than Classic and were still being adjusted.
- Timesaver.gg says Blizzard has announced no global XP multiplier, and final launch numbers can only be confirmed once the game is live.
- No source opened gives a measured number of hours to reach level 60; see how long it takes to reach level 60.
