ChatGPT or Claude While Playing WoW Forever: What to Know
Yes, you can keep ChatGPT or Claude open in a second window or on a phone while you play World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), and both makers' help pages describe talking to them by voice. Neither page says the assistant reads your character or quests on its own, so you describe them. Whether Blizzard's rules cover such apps is not stated in the pages opened for this article.
Quick answer: A chat assistant is a general helper: you type or speak the question and the context. Willo, our own fan-made companion, adds voice, your quests and location (with Live game info on) and talking characters. Both can be wrong, and WoW Forever launches November 4, 2026.

Key facts
- Launch: WoW Forever launches November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST (Blizzard)
- ChatGPT Voice: lets you speak and hear a response; the Live option can use web search (OpenAI Help Center)
- Claude voice mode: a beta feature on web, desktop and mobile; can use web search and connected tools (Claude Help Center)
- Accuracy: OpenAI's page says ChatGPT can make mistakes; Willo's FAQ says she can too
- Willo free plan: 50 answers a day (Willo plans page)
Can you use ChatGPT or Claude while playing WoW Forever?
Technically yes: they run in a browser or app beside the game. On the rules, Blizzard's August 2025 community post says it takes action, up to permanent closure of the accounts involved, against third-party software that bypasses its security to modify the game client or control the game in prohibited ways, and that third-party software that modifies the client is against its Terms of Service. It also quotes the EULA's Cheating limitation, which covers software not authorized by Blizzard that changes or facilitates gameplay. That post does not mention a separate chat window either way, and neither does Blizzard's 2009 add-on policy, which covers add-ons themselves. If you are unsure, ask Blizzard Support.
What do ChatGPT and Claude offer by voice?
OpenAI's ChatGPT Voice page (updated days before November 2) says you can speak with ChatGPT and hear a spoken response, that the Live option can use web search and memory and accept images, and that "ChatGPT can make mistakes". Anthropic's voice mode page calls it a beta feature available on all plans on mobile, desktop and the web, and says it can use web search and connected tools such as Google Calendar. Its web search page says Claude uses search to ground answers in live web content, with citations.
What will they not know about your game?
Nothing on those pages describes either assistant seeing your character, quests or location. You supply them, in words or an image. Our reading, not a quote from either company: an assistant is only as current as what it learned or searched, and WoW Forever is recent. Check the dates on pages it cites, and see how WoW Forever differs from Classic.
What does Willo add?
According to her page, Willo is a voice companion: hold your talk key, ask, and hear the answer. With the free Lore Forever add-on and Live game info on in both places, she sees your quests and where you are, and she can take your target as context. Characters you target answer in their own voices, and Willo remembers your journey and plan. Her privacy page says questions go with your race, class, level, location, target, quests and recent chat, and that outside services write and speak her answers. See how to use Willo.
What are Willo's limits?
She is a separate app, not in the game, and you sign in with a Lore Forever account. The free plan gives 50 answers a day. The Willo and Lore Forever FAQs say she can get things wrong and her answers are not official game information. The Lore Forever FAQ says she never presses keys or clicks and compares her to an overlay like Discord; that is our own claim, not Blizzard's. The Willo page lists Windows and Apple Silicon Mac downloads, but two FAQs still call her a Windows app, so Mac readers should check her page for which features apply. Neither product replaces checking the add-on guide and Blizzard's pages.
How can the Lore Forever add-on and Willo help with this?
Both are our own fan-made projects, not affiliated with Blizzard. The add-on gives readable and recorded lore for the quest in front of you; Willo answers by voice. Both are free to start, and if you prefer a general assistant, nothing here says you must switch. See the Willo companion guide.
What is not confirmed yet
