Lore Forever Add-on for WoW Forever: Free Download Guide
The Lore Forever add-on is a free, fan-made add-on for World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) that tells the story of the zone, quest, NPC or dungeon around you, in text and in recorded narration, and it works on Windows and Mac. You can download it from loreforeverwow.com or CurseForge, and it is not affiliated with Blizzard.
Quick answer: Install the add-on, pick a key on first login, then hover an NPC and press it, click the Lore button on a quest, or type /lore. It covers every zone, city and dungeon up to level 30, and it needs no app. Details are as of October 29, 2026.

Every road in Azeroth runs past somebody's story: a burned farmstead, a ruined hall. The add-on lets you stop and hear it.
Key facts
- Cost: free; also on CurseForge (Lore Forever FAQ; CurseForge page)
- Platforms: the add-on works on Mac too; only the Setup.exe installer is Windows-only (Lore Forever FAQ)
- Coverage: every zone, city and dungeon up to level 30, Zephras Isle, Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron, plus place lore for the rest of the world (CurseForge page)
- Languages: English, with German, Spanish, French and Brazilian Portuguese as separate downloads (CurseForge page)
What is the Lore Forever add-on?
Lore Forever is an in-game lore companion built for WoW Forever only; the site's FAQ says Classic Era and the current main game are not supported. Its stories stay in the first year of World of Warcraft, 25 years after the Dark Portal, and later-expansion lore is dropped.
What does the add-on do while you play?
- Tooltips: NPCs and mobs get a one-line story. Items say when a quest you can still do wants them, or when they start a quest.
- Quests: a Lore button on the quest dialog and the quest log opens the quest's story.
- Journey page: the Completed filter, or /lore quests, lists completed quests, newest first, grouped by zone.
- Chat: entering a zone prints a clickable question. Entering a dungeon links its primer: an overview, why you are there, the bosses in order, and a spoiler-tagged "what the final fight means."
- Asking: start typing and matching questions drop down; answers end with "Ask next" follow-ups.
- Listen: recorded narration for every zone, capital and dungeon, the bosses, and the places and people inside them. It can start by itself unless you switch on "only when I press Play."

How do you get the add-on?
The Downloads page on loreforeverwow.com offers three downloads as of October 29, 2026: The add-on (318 MB, with the male narrator reading zones, cities and dungeons), Storyteller (1.5 GB, recommended, adding people, bosses, more places, quest stories and item stories) and Everything (2.7 GB, adding quest dialogue and quest givers' voices). The add-on is also on CurseForge. Windows players can run the Setup file; Mac players use CurseForge or the Zip. On your first login the add-on asks you to pick a key.
How is the add-on different from Willo?
The add-on works fully on its own, inside the game, with no internet access. Willo is a separate, free-to-start Windows app that answers out loud and adds live answers the add-on cannot give. She works without the add-on; with it, she sees your quests and where you are. The add-on is the book in your pack, Willo the wisp at your shoulder. The Willo guide has the details.
How are the stories and voices made?
The Lore Forever FAQ says the lore comes from the Warcraft Wiki and from Forever's own game text, and that Forever's text wins where they disagree. Entries are drafted by software, then checked: a canon check flags anything later than 25 years after the Dark Portal, and player reports fix wrong answers. They are not hand-written. The included male narrator and the optional female narrator are generated voices, not voice actors, while voices that other players record and share are real people.
What is not confirmed yet
- Launch: the FAQ says the add-on was tested in the beta every day, and says nothing about November 4.
- Above level 30 it has place lore, not quest-by-quest stories, and the README leaves Mount Hyjal out until the wiki has Forever pages.
- Recorded narration in German and French covers selected stories; Spanish and Portuguese are text only for now, and recorded quest dialogue is English only (CurseForge page).
