Varian Wrynn
King Varian Wrynn is the rightful ruler of the Kingdom of Stormwind, currently missing after vanishing en route to a diplomatic summit in Theramore. In his absence, his ten-year-old son Anduin wears the crown, guided by Highlord Bolvar Fordragon and Lady Katrana Prestor.
A Boyhood in Ash
Varian was just a boy when the First War shattered his life. He watched his father, King Llane Wrynn, die by the hand of the assassin Garona Halforcen as the Old Horde stormed the capital. Rescued by Anduin Lothar, the orphaned prince fled north with the kingdom's survivors to Southshore. In Capital City, King Terenas Menethil II took Varian in like a second son. The young prince grew up in exile alongside Prince Arthas Menethil, bearing the memory of a burned home until the Alliance of Lordaeron broke the Horde and reclaimed Stormwind.
A Troubled Restoration
Crowned at eighteen, Varian took on the immense task of resurrecting his ruined kingdom. To restore the capital, he commissioned the Stonemasons Guild under Edwin VanCleef. But when the grand work was finished, the corrupt House of Nobles refused to pay the promised wages, and the stonemasons refused to back down. Varian found himself paralyzed between the entrenched nobility and the furious artisans. The dispute erupted into violent riots in the streets of Stormwind.
