Twilight's Hammer

The Twilight's Hammer is a nihilistic, apocalyptic cult dedicated to awakening the Old Gods and bringing about the end of Azeroth. Originally an orcish clan led by the ogre-mage Cho'gall, it has evolved into a secretive, multiracial order actively conducting dark rituals across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.

Origins in Shadow

The Twilight's Hammer began on Draenor as an orc clan of the Old Horde, led by the two-headed ogre-mage Cho'gall, one of Gul'dan's chief lieutenants in the Shadow Council. Under Cho'gall the clan embraced a grim, apocalyptic creed, coming to see the Horde as merely an engine of destruction meant to bring about the end of all things.

Arrival on Azeroth

When the Twilight's Hammer crossed the Dark Portal during the First War, their apocalyptic fanaticism only deepened. In the soil of Azeroth, the cultists sensed the genuine whispers of the Old Gods—ancient horrors chained beneath the earth. Blackhand tolerated their erratic, ritualistic behavior solely because Cho'gall managed their bloodlust, deploying them alongside Kilrogg Deadeye's Bleeding Hollow clan in early assaults on Stormwind Keep. The clan later operated deep within Grim Batol during the Second War, overseeing critical refineries until Gul'dan's betrayal fractured the Horde. Though Orgrim Doomhammer ordered the traitorous clan butchered near the Tomb of Sargeras, a core cadre of zealots survived.

A Spreading Cancer

Upon reaching the forgotten shores of Kalimdor, the cult transformed from a shattered orc clan into a clandestine, multiracial conspiracy. Seducing disillusioned members of both the Alliance and the Horde, the Twilight's Hammer recruits any soul broken enough to welcome oblivion. In northern Kalimdor, led by Twilight Lord Kelris, cultists have entrenched themselves within the submerged halls of Blackfathom Deeps, feeding sacrifices to Aku'mai, a monstrous servant of an Old God. Further north in Darkshore, their excavators disturb the colossal fossilized remains at the Master's Glaive. Across the southern deserts of Silithus, camps of robed fanatics tend abyssal windstones, listening for the stirring of ancient horrors entombed beneath the sands.
