Shadow Council
The Shadow Council was the secret cabal of warlocks and necrolytes that orchestrated the corruption of the Old Horde on Draenor and guided its invasion of Azeroth. Founded by Gul'dan under the direction of the Burning Legion, the cult manipulated clan chieftains from behind the scenes until Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer purged their stronghold in Blackrock Mountain.
Architects of the Blood Curse
Before the crossing into Azeroth, Gul'dan brought together a clandestine assembly of warlocks, necrolytes, and opportunistic chieftains to manipulate the orcish clans. By elevating Blackhand the Destroyer as a malleable figurehead, the Shadow Council ruled the Old Horde from the dark. They disseminated fel magic across Draenor and fed the blood of the demon Mannoroth to the clans, binding the orcs to the will of the Burning Legion.
The Crossing and Blackrock Mountain
The Shadow Council entered a pact with Medivh—the Guardian possessed by Sargeras—to breach the barrier between worlds. Through the Dark Portal, the Council guided the Horde into the Kingdom of Stormwind. From their sanctum in Blackrock Spire, the warlocks oversaw the war effort.
