Medivh
Medivh was the last Guardian of Tirisfal, an ancient order tasked with defending Azeroth from demonic corruption. Bound from before his birth by the spirit of the Dark Titan Sargeras, he opened the Dark Portal and brought the orcish Horde into the world, setting off decades of catastrophic warfare.
A Cursed Heritage
Medivh was born to the powerful Guardian Aegwynn and the court conjurer Nielas Aran. Centuries earlier, Aegwynn had fought the fallen Titan Sargeras in Northrend, unaware that his dark essence slipped into her body to await an heir. When Medivh reached his fourteenth birthday, the vast magical inheritance bestowed by his mother manifested in a terrifying explosion of power, plunging the boy into a decade-long coma under the watch of the clerics at Northshire Abbey.
The Fall of Karazhan
Awakening from his slumber, Medivh took residence in the isolated tower of Karazhan, serving as court magus to his childhood friend King Llane Wrynn of Stormwind. Yet the dark spirit within him slowly eroded his sanity. Seeking to unleash devastation, Medivh made contact across the stars with the orc warlock Gul'dan and the Shadow Council. Together, they channeled tremendous magic to tear open the Dark Portal, delivering the Horde upon the Eastern Kingdoms and sparking the First War. Medivh was ultimately slain in his tower by his closest friend, Anduin Lothar, and his apprentice, Khadgar.
