Old God
The Old Gods are colossal, malevolent horrors of flesh and madness who ruled Azeroth in its primordial dawn. Though vanquished and bound deep beneath the crust by the Titans, their ancient whispers still corrode mortal minds, twist nature, and drive doomsday cults to unearth their prisons.
Masters of the Primordial World
Long before mortal records began, Azeroth was dominated by the Old Gods, colossal entities of chaotic flesh such as C'Thun. They embedded themselves into the planet's crust, commanding elemental armies and insectoid swarms. When the Titans arrived, their armies fought an apocalyptic war against them. Rather than destroying them, the Titans bound the Old Gods in vast, subterranean prisons to keep them dormant forever.
Whispers from the Deep
Even chained beneath miles of stone and enchanted wards, the Old Gods have never truly slept. Their psychic malice seeps continually into the world, corrupting the vulnerable. It was their collective malice that slowly drove Neltharion the Earth-Warder mad during the War of the Ancients, twisting the noble dragon into Deathwing. When Queen Azshara and her Highborne drowned beneath the raging waters of the Great Sundering, an Old God answered their desperation, transforming them into the serpentine naga.
