Auberdine
The story
Auberdine is a coastal night elven port town on the gloomy shores of Darkshore, serving as the Alliance's primary maritime gateway to northern Kalimdor. Sheltered beneath overcast skies and pine-covered bluffs, it connects the island home of Teldrassil to the Eastern Kingdoms while serving as an administrative haven against the encroaching wilderness.
Resting along the shores of the Veiled Sea, Auberdine is the only major settlement to successfully endure in modern Darkshore. Unlike the secluded treetop cities of Teldrassil, Auberdine looks outward, serving as the Alliance's busiest port in the north. Regular ships sail between here and Menethil Harbor in the Eastern Kingdoms, while local ferries run to Rut'theran Village at the boughs of the World Tree. Because of its trade role, Auberdine embraces a more cosmopolitan air than traditional elven enclaves; visitors find lamps illuminating stone-laid streets, bilingual signs in Darnassian and Common, and outland merchants including dwarves and gnomes mingling among the low-slung, arched timber houses.
