Is the Skyborne Race Worth $29.99 in WoW Forever? Both Sides
The Skyborne Heroic Pack, the lowest of the three packs that unlock the new Skyborne race in World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), is listed at $29.99 by Gfinity, TimeSaver and FinalBoss, and whether that is worth it depends on how much you want this one race and its Zephras Isle start. Blizzard's own pages show no prices and send buyers to the Battle.net Shop, so every figure here comes from a named outlet.
Quick answer: The $29.99 buys the Skyborne race, the Zephras Isle opening, Early Name Reservation, a ground mount and cosmetics, but not beta access or Game Time. FinalBoss calls the charge "a permanent toll"; TimeSaver calls the race "genuinely optional content". As of October 29, 2026, no source I opened settles it for you.

Blizzard says that on Zephras Isle ancient structures are beginning to fail and the Skyborne are divided over what comes next. The pack is the key to that island, and the price is what you weigh before you step through.
Key facts
- Heroic Pack price: $29.99 (Gfinity, TimeSaver, FinalBoss); "$30" (Blizzard Watch); 25.99 pounds (IBTimes UK)
- Epic Pack and Collection: $59.99 and $79.99 (Gfinity, TimeSaver, FinalBoss)
- Collection availability: through January 11, 2027 (Blizzard)
- Still required: a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time (Blizzard)
- Blizzard's own price: none on the pages I opened
What do you get for $29.99 with the Skyborne Heroic Pack?
The pack is a key to one race and one starting zone. Blizzard lists in it: the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle starting experience; Early Name Reservation (with any upgrade); the Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount, which needs the in-game riding skill; the Shen'dorei Skyseer's Garb, Veteran Adventurer's Rucksack and Windwell toy; Skyborne housing decor; and one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code. See the Skyborne guide and the unlock guide.
What do the Epic Pack and the Collection add?
Each step up adds a layer. Blizzard says the Epic Pack adds beta access, 30 days of Game Time from November 4, more cosmetics, tabards and pets, and two more launch codes. The Collection adds Warcraft III: Reforged, its Forsaken Kingdom campaign and figurine decor. The beta has ended: Warcraft Tavern reported on October 23 that it had concluded. Do you need the Skyborne pack to play WoW Forever?
No. Blizzard says access to Forever is included with a Subscription or Game Time. Blizzard Watch (September 13) says a subscription covers the revamped world and most new experiences but not the Skyborne or their starting zone. TimeSaver says zones, dungeons, raids and quests are all in the base game. The pack does not replace the subscription, per wow.gg. See is WoW Forever free and subscription cost.
What has been said against the price?
FinalBoss (September 14, updated October 9) argues the paywall makes "a two-tier version of Forever", that the mount, toys and housing items make the pack look more generous while the race is the real draw, and that beta access sat at the $59.99 tier. It notes no announced date for the race to join the standard subscription, calling the cost "a permanent toll rather than an early-access premium." MassivelyOP's September 13 headline speaks of fans raising a ruckus over the paywall (the page did not load for me, so only the headline).
What has been said in its defense?
TimeSaver (September 25) says "$29.99 is fair if you specifically want to play the Skyborne from day one" and calls the race "genuinely optional content, not a game-splitting paywall." TimeSaver's footer lists boosting services, so weigh it as an outlet with a business in the game. TimeSaver and Windows Central both call this the first time Blizzard has sold a playable race; neither is Blizzard.
What is not confirmed yet
- Whether the race ever becomes available without a pack: Blizzard's pages say nothing, FinalBoss says no date has been given, and wow.gg says no plan has been announced.
- Whether the Heroic and Epic packs stay on sale after November 4; Blizzard gives an end date only for the Collection.
- Skyborne racial numbers changed in October, according to Gamerfuzion; see Skyborne classes by faction.
If you do buy the pack, the free Lore Forever add-on includes the story of Zephras Isle; it is fan-made and does not unlock Skyborne.
