Skyborne Classes in WoW Forever: Horde and Alliance Lists
In World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever), Horde Windshaper Skyborne can be Druid, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman or Warrior, and Alliance High Order Skyborne can be Druid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue or Warrior, according to Blizzard's Skyborne announcement. You pick Horde or Alliance when you create the character, and that choice decides the list.
Quick answer: Four classes are open to both Skyborne traditions: Druid, Hunter, Rogue and Warrior. Shaman is Horde only and Mage is Alliance only. Paladin, Priest and Warlock appear on neither list. Gfinity, TimeSaver and Warcraft Wiki agree with Blizzard's lists as of October 29, 2026.

The Skyborne share one starting island, Zephras Isle, but at the character creator they part into two traditions. Each carries a different faction banner and its own list of callings.

Which classes can Horde Windshaper Skyborne play?
Blizzard says the Horde-aligned Skyborne follow elemental traditions. The Windshapers are descendants of the first shen'dorei high elves to receive the spirits' gift, and they want to solve the mystery of what became of their missing elemental mentors. Blizzard lists Druid, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman and Warrior for the Horde path, and Gfinity and TimeSaver print the same five.
Warcraft Wiki describes the Windshapers as shamanic spiritual leaders who joined the Horde after contacting the Earthen Ring. The Shaman guide covers the class that only Horde Skyborne can choose.
Which classes can Alliance High Order Skyborne play?
Blizzard says the High Order descend from the Highborne scholars of Eldre'Thalas and, after the wind spirits vanished, sought to reclaim lost arcane knowledge so the Skyborne can survive on their own. Blizzard lists Druid, Hunter, Mage, Rogue and Warrior for the Alliance path. Gfinity and TimeSaver match that list.
Warcraft Wiki says the High Order joined the Alliance after contacting the Kirin Tor. The Mage guide covers the class that only Alliance Skyborne can choose.
Which Skyborne class is limited to one faction?
Two classes are split by banner. Warcraft Wiki's WoW Forever page says Alliance Skyborne can be Mages and Horde Skyborne can be Shamans, and Gfinity's Skyborne guide marks Mage and Shaman as exclusive in the same way. A Horde Skyborne Mage and an Alliance Skyborne Shaman are not on Blizzard's lists. The wider table of races and classes is in race and class combinations and the classes hub.
What racial abilities do the two Skyborne traditions get?
Blizzard's Skyborne announcement lists these racials:
- Windshaper: Walk on Air (glide downward for 10 seconds), Skysight (10% run speed), Wind Blessed (1% Haste) and Elemental Insight (5% bonus damage to Elementals)
- High Order: Walk on Air, Read Ley Line (100% increased Health and Mana regeneration when activating a ley line), Wind Blessed and Elemental Insight
Gfinity's October 2 guide uses different names for two of them, "Skylight" and "Elemental Sights", so the names are not settled across outlets. Gamerfuzion reports that a Blizzard forum post of October 26 changed Skyborne values: Wind Blessed Haste from 3% to 2%, Skysight to 15% movement speed for 15 seconds, and Read Leyline to 50% regeneration for 15 seconds. Its "before" figure for Wind Blessed (3%) does not match the 1% in Blizzard's announcement, so treat every Skyborne number as provisional. More on the changes is in racial changes.
What is not confirmed yet
- Racial numbers are still being tuned, and the sources above disagree on the earlier values.
- Blizzard traces the Windshapers to the first shen'dorei high elves; Warcraft Wiki says they descend from kaldorei citizens.
- No source I opened lists Skyborne talent builds or starting equipment by class.
- Whether more classes are ever added to either list is not stated by any source I opened.
Every Skyborne begins on Zephras Isle, and the free Lore Forever add-on includes that zone's story; it is fan-made and does not unlock Skyborne.
